How America's Homeless Survive Living in Their CARS | Full Documentary

It's 11 at night in a supermarket car park and there are four cars still in it.

One belongs to a night manager. The other three have people sleeping in them.

You could not pick them out. That's the point. One is a grey sedan with a sunshade up at the front and what look like grey panels in the back windows, parked nose-out near the trolley bay. One is a work van with a ladder rack, which nobody has looked at twice in three years. And one is a minivan with a car seat still strapped in the back, because there's a six-year-old asleep in it who has school in the morning.

It's 24 degrees outside. None of those three vehicles has its engine running, and none of them will run it tonight.

By two in the morning, the inside of all three will be somewhere between 15 and 30 degrees warmer than the air outside, with no heat source in any of them except the people.

This is a documentary about exactly how.
