I used to live in a tiny house in the old town, but moving to a garden home in the suburbs honestly felt like a rebirth.

To have a small house 🏠 is better than not having a house at all.

I lived in less than 100 sqft over 35 years ago for $200/mo before living tiny became all the rage.

Apartments in Europe are so small that when you open the door, you have to be careful not to fall out the window.

I live in the Netherlands. We still build narrow. Our house is in the Hague, only about twenty years old, but it's still only about five meters wide and goes three stories up and way back. It's just the Dutch urban aesthetic now.

In Mexico City at a street called Manuel Villalongín, sits a 4 storeys apartment building (does not look like single house) that has a façade no more than 5 meters wide.

I had a semi detached in Toronto, 13 ft wide lot, 11 fr wide home. Three floors, three bedroom. It was small but it was fine, great neighborhood and the home becomes less important. House is worth over a million CAD now...

2:13 I know someone that did the same thing.

Due to the historic nature of the island, there are restrictions on building or expanding homes. This led to people getting creative.

Regarding the restrictions of not removing any original walls, one person just built around the original house. Incorporating the walls into the new floor plan.

Another moved the entire original walls around and created a larger house. Arguing that no original wall was removed. It was finally allowed. But, new restrictions prevented it being done again.

Next to my friend, a new owner of the house next door was not restricted from building up. The cost was insane, to me. Buy, they went up and wrapped slightly. Taking away all the views of the water and blocking sunshine.
