also before anyone comments it, at 24:34 I said tencent instead of netease SOMEHOW, I PROMISE I know what I'm talking about

10 years in the remakes made you a villain.

Nagoshi clutched up at the right time

According to native speakers on reddit the translations in Y0DC are pretty shoddy in many places and outright wrong in others.

At least the Original Yakuza 0 is available and not delisted at GOG.

I T ' S   G R O W I N G .

Devs so passionate that they hired a real villain

Love how the Japanese find taking drugs to be worse than litteral assault of a human being. People love to glaze them but their so backwards with their views on crime

Its always cool when youtubers talk about the kagawa situations, it needs to be said

Relating to the recasting of actors in the Yakuza series, during the development of Yakuza 4 Remastered, allegations of Hiroki Narimiya (Masayoshi Tanimura's original VA and likeness) using cocaine surfaced. Photos were released in the news of him apparently snorting cocaine off a table, though it was quickly disproven to be a type of powdered candy you stir into a glass of water. RGG, however, took zero chances, and immediately began work to erase his face from the game, reworking Tanimura's face and replacing his voice with that of Toshiki Masuda. This is honestly one of the reasons why Kagawa situation pisses me off so much, because not only is RGG the type of company to completely throw someone under the bus for crime they didn't even actually commit, but it also shows that they are the type of company to employ a sex offender even with REAL EVIDENCE of his crimes, cast him as a major antagonist, and use HIS face to headline the trailer.

also ur videos are pretty cool u might be one of my new favs ❤

something i don't think many people would know is that if you want to upgrade Kiwami 1 on switch to the switch 2 version you pay £8

RGG is funny. Sexual assaults on men (by women): HAHA, FUNNY!
Sexual assaults on women (by men): You should Die.
But also RGG Studio: <Protects Kagawa>

What?!

Yakuza 0 : they... removed me for a newer version?!
Sonic 3 & knuckles for the mega drive collection : First time?
Warcraft 1, 2, 3, and overwatch 1 : Honestly seems like a trend where everyone loses.

You don't have to feel bad about supporting a Netease game because Netease essentially gave Nagoshi and the team at his studio the boot, this is barely being funded by them anymore. It is primarily privately funded now to finish what is left of its development as after this game Netease is completely severing its ties with pretty much all their Japanese owned dev companies. So if Gang of Dragon were to continue if it succeeds, Nagoshi would have to find a new publishing partner.

The Kagawa situation is the double-edge sword of RGG announcing to cheers that they don't develop games for foreign markets.

I popped around Japanese media sites using my Japanese keyboard and Google translate... and the Kagawa situation isn't controversial in Japan. His career cratered after it came out, but of late he's been rebuilding his career and people seem genuinely curious about such a high profile actor working on the game.

I just don't see them reversing the decision when they are pretty upfront about not understanding the Western market in any real way, as I know from trying to gauge Japanese outrage about various topics that the language barrier makes it really difficult to know what the average person thinks. For this topic, I'm just going by Japanese media outlets reporting on the Western controversy and kind of dismissing it as Westerners being Westerners.

"why preserve original y1 and y2 if you could take down original versions of yakuza 0, kiwami 1 and 2 and make a quick buck from that?"
- sega probably

I just want to punch someone when they say "But Yakuza is about forgiving people!!!"

THESE ARE GAMES! KAGAWA COMMITTED AN ACTUAL CRIME!!!

I want to mention that while the original Yakuza 0 got delisted on Steam, it's still available to buy on gog. It doesn't make the delisting situation much better, but at least a relatively cheap version of the game is still available on PC.

The fact that the next-gen upgrades are unavaliable for disc owners is even more insulting when you consider that SEGA partnered with Limited Run to re-release physical copies of Yakuza 0-6. Imagine being a dedicated fan who went out to get collectors editions of the games only to be asked to buy the game again a year later for a miniscule upgrade.

20 years in the devloping industry made you a greedy moron
