Legion of Doom: Unpopular Opinions/Hot Takes

The Legion of Doom is one of the most popular villains groups to the Justice League in the history of DC. But are they only popular in name or has this villainous group done enough to prove themselves as being one of the most important? With characters like Lex Luthor and/or Joker being in the group, we can assume what to expect with the team but perhaps lower tier characters should be taking front and center,

Comment below some more unpopular opinions on the Legion of Doom!

I think having Joker on the Legion made a lot more sense back when the team was originally conceived and he was merely the clown prince of crime- but given how much more deranged and unhinged the character has been written to be over the decades it's reached a point where you'd have to be stupid to recruit him and this is a team normally run by Lex Luthor so it just doesn't make a lot of sense anymore.

Ive always felt like the Legion of Doom are not used enough these days since theyre one of my favourite supervillain teams and I feel like they should primarily members catered to being different villainous rival of whatever member of the Justice League exists on that team. I feel like the Legion of Doom should have as much of a fun and interesting dynamic as much the Justice League shoudl with various different rosters and members with different relationships and dynamics anong each other as villains

1. I agree with the joker take it honestly feels weird, its like having venom on the sinister six (yes they probably had venom on the team before but its still weird)

2. Yes them being called the legion of doom doesn’t seem serious, they just unironically feel like 70s or 80s cartoon villains where they scheme to take over the world only for them to be defeated by the heroes and they either retreat or end up in jail.
It would be cool if they did something reprehensible or flat out atrocious that would cause death, chaos, and destruction. idk something that gives them some kind of street cred

I actually like the joker on the legion of doom. My favorite thing is that hes never invited and he invites himself and I just feel like it makes sense he heres other villains making a team to fight the justice league well he has to join in that sounds fun

The version in the justice league doom movie was fantastic

I've been considering a DC universe for myself (because deep down that’s what most of us do), and heavily invested in using the Legion of Doom as the antagonist for my second phase, taking some inspiration from the 2012 Justice League: Doom film. From a current perspective, this is what I view the team consisting of to counter the JL:

Lex Luthor (Leader & funder)
Deathstroke (Field Commander)
Cheetah
Sinestro (Co Strategist)
Killer Frost
King Shark
Ma'alefa'ak
Scarecrow

And a fun addition to the team not too many people seem to consider a part of the overall team, Mercy Graves, operating BTS at Lexcorp as Lex would be a criminal by this point.

In my opinion I prefer joker in the legion to make it interesting

They used to be the biggest team of villains in dc comics and they are not often used effectively enough and more often used as pawns for a bigger threat.

I always find that Legion of Doom,Injustice League and Secret Society are no different as they are always lead by Lex Luther, because I could see the Penguin as a leader of the Injustice league.

Unpopular Option for Cheetah I don’t find her as a threat to Wonder Woman as she is more of a thug than a mastermind and remember in the first Ideal Wonder Woman villain video comment that I reimagined her as a childhood friend or Ex-wife of Steve Trevor were she resented Diana for stealing him from her and also that she would have a son with him named Adam.

Unpopular options on Penguin,Riddler and Ra’s al ghoul next.

8:55 thst really does feel like what the legion is. Like all the villain really just decided to gather up to fight the justice league but didn't think it through at all.

I enjoyed The Society as a version of LoD that worked.

Wasn't the story "Justice" (art by Alex Ross) sort of a version of legion of doom that works?

My personal line-up for a movie version of the Legion of Doom

Lex Luthor
Bane
Circe
Gorilla Grodd
Sinestro
Black Manta
Ma'alefa'ak

Note: I agree, Joker shouldn't be on the team

I kinda wish the legion of doom was handled sightly more like the light from young justice where its a big organisation pulling the strings behind major events and being a sort of security net for other super villains.

@NuwandaLunaDragon 1 year ago

Siniestro, Adam, Savage, Luthor, Manta, Grod and Ra's working as a round table is the best option, an association of villains that respect each other and work as (on paper) equals while bringing new B and C listers every time they decide to work together is the best possible dynamic

They need to see themselves as a new world order, a measure and mean towards an end, not a club
