"The Complete Rain World Timeline | Rain World: Downpour Lore" by UraniumEater and "The Affairs of Passing Gods: Rain World's Full Story" by Solemn Sunday are both good for explaining this games contents, both go into the story but if you want extra context for lore watch the prior but if u want just the story explicitly in the game go for the latter

EDIT: forgot to mention Solemn Sunday's "The Affairs of Passing Gods: Rain World's Full Story" is a bit outdated as in they talk about debunked theories and misconceptions of the time, nothing too contradictory but I'd recommend The Complete Rain World Timeline | Rain World: Downpour Lore" by UraniumEater just because its more up to date and has more context, however the decision is entirely up to you

The irony of calling The Watcher fanfiction when Downpour is not that much more than a particularly well-done modpack. No shade to DP though, it's a big part of the reason so many of us know what Rain World is. DP and Watcher are both incredible.

26:20 They DID add echo indicators, and they're very useful, they just unlock at a later point in the campaign than what the video shows (he's showing a map with only 4 regions unlocked so he doesn't have it)

not the best video to be introduced to the watcher through
"this is rainworld fanfiction" is the opinion people had about downpour, the original devs worked on this dlc, it's closer to the original vision than anything we got before

The main issue with watcher is that it is unfinished. Publisher forced them to release early. Only design choice that I dislike is the no obvious connections between regions, but It’s not a strong dislike.

Anyway, the watcher is NOT FINISHED and still getting updates, including a new, third ending.

Have I said this before? yes. Will I say it again? Also yes. 'The Affairs Of Passing Gods' is a fully in-depth, engaging, voice-acted lore video that covers the entire main story of Rainworld and the Downpour expansion, and I genuinely could not reccommend anything more. It's about an hour and a half long, but that hour and a half is more than worth it. It goes in-depth about the world the story is set in, and then the story itself, taking direct quotes from lore pearls in the game. Normally I'd say 'play rainworld' but the game is hard so, uh... watch rainworld, I guess.

Whether you do or don't choose to react to The Affairs Of Passing Gods is truly up to you, but I really do reccomend it. As someone with over 500 hours in the game, it's my all-time favourite video on the lore. That is still personal opinion though lmao

I'm very excited to see you getting into Rainworld though, hardly anybody reacts to the videos and lore about it. Even if you never play the game (which, understandable, it makes me ragequit regularly it's so hard), seeing you react to these videos on it and being genuinely interested, is very exciting. So thank you for providing this entertainment :3

5:32 Only some of the regions in the watcher were originally mods many are also brand new and the developers confirmed that the regions based off mods will still be available on the workshop as usual just without the watcher changes.

It's important to note that the story of in Downpour is originally a mod called More Slugcats Mod that was officialy made a DLC. Because of this the story for downpour was not made by the developers but instead made by the modders.  UraniumEater made a great video regarding the common misconceptions on Rainworld lore, but you should probably watch that after knowing more aboutthe lore

27:59 he missed two, salination (which is a water level) and feitid glen (which wasn't in the mod, but is clearly aether ridge, because of the way it is (and also it in-code name says it's aether ridge)

5:50 the community of this game seems pretty chill with it from what I've noticed, since the devs have been pretty respectful with how they approach that stuff as far as I know. That's what the Downpoor dlc was too, a mod pack that the devs reached out to.

RAINWOOOOORRRRRLLLLDDDDDD

The game you play if you want to hate yourself, hate the game, hate the animals, hate the plants, hate the weather, hate the cycle, but love the Slugcat

More rain World content please!

WATCHER is canon, DOWNPOUR is fanfiction

If I may make a suggestion for a future Rain World reaction:
A youtuber by the name of Swampy is playing the Survivor campaign blind, and he's uploaded videos on his perspective on the lore.
He's impressively on the nose and the two videos he has so far (the video essays, not the live play-throughs) are incredibly entertaining. He's close to the end of the campaign, so it shouldn't be too much of a wait to see his full experience of the game as Survivor!

Anyways, love your videos! Can't wait for more Rain World from you! :)

Anything but a lore video 😭

12:25 "now we're in the poison swamp, now we're in the poison swamp, now we're... probably in the poison swamp"
LMAOOOO, but instead of poison swanp it's "now we're in Aether ridge again"

just wanted you to know, Rain World downpour was just a mod at the start called something like "more slugcats expansion" but the creators noticed it, and actualy started working with them! i think (tho i might be totally wrong) that the watcher was created in a similar way, so there was no stealing from comunity mods or anything like that

Yeah, I can see the frustration there yet strangely, it was one of the things I loved most about this campaign. It reminded me of the pure frustration and cluelessness I felt when I played Survivor for the very first time, which is something I just didn’t experience in Downpour.

There are more original regions added to Watcher than modded regions, and most modded regions were added because those said modders became  devs for Watcher, and all the regions mods are still available to play on the workshop
