In this video, I’m testing the Thermomix Blade Cover & Peeler with potatoes, beets, ginger, and garlic to see how well it actually works — and when it’s worth using.
This accessory has two main functions: it can help peel ingredients like root vegetables, and it also works as a blade cover for gentle cooking methods like slow cooking and sous vide.
For peeling, it’s not always absolutely necessary — you can definitely still peel by hand — but it can come in very handy, especially when you’re preparing larger quantities or want to save time.
But as a blade cover, it’s a different story. Some Thermomix recipes, especially slow cooking and sous vide recipes, require a blade cover because the blades need to move gently to circulate the liquid and keep the temperature even, while the food stays protected from the sharp blades.
So if you need a blade cover for those recipes, my opinion is: you might as well get the version that also peels.
In this video I show:
How the Blade Cover & Peeler works
Potatoes, beets, ginger, and garlic tested
When peeling with it makes sense
Why some recipes need a blade cover
What sous vide means
Examples of Thermomix recipes that use this accessory
The Blade Cover & Peeler is not an accessory you need for every single recipe, but it does unlock certain cooking methods and can make prep easier.
Want one or have questions? Send me a message and I’ll help you figure out if it makes sense for the way you cook.
