I remember hearing Noel say in an interview that he held off on recording “All Around the World” until they had the budget for the orchestra haha, such a calculated band leader being patient with his songs
What's most frustrating about SOTSOG is the fact that Noel left off amazing B-Sides, like Let's all make believe, one way road, and Cigarettes in hell for trash like I can see a liar and put yer money where your mouth is. Switch those tracks round and you've got a near flawless album
Its 2001, Im 13 and in love with WTSMG courtesy of a friend. I find a copy of SOTSOG in our local cd/video store. I didn't recognize/hadn't heard a single song off the album. I was curious and decided to buy it, not knowing what I was in for. I had a portable CD player and popped it in. Hearing Go Let It Out Gas Panic Who Feels Love and Roll It Over for the first time...Gawd What I would GIVE to experience the feeling of hearing those songs for the first time and being overtaken by their brilliance. Its not their best record, but to me its always been their most Interesting, B-Sides included, (Lets All Make Believe not being on the album is an actual crime). Thank you for so much for making this video. Absolutely well done, I learned new things, and was reminded of how much I appreciate this album. Cheers!
I'm from Manchester, I'm well into my 40s, I came up through the 90s music scene in Manchester. Had mates in bands that played with Oasis on numerous occasions, had beers with Liam a couple of times. It was a right old tear-up.
All that said, you've done a great job with this video. It's really insightful, well thought-out and presented with aplomb. You've got sound knowledge on the band. I love the interview snippets. I've seen a lot of Liam/Noel interview clips before, but not those you've used here. So, excellent work buddy. Count me a sub. Thanks for sharing your endeavours. 👍
I think it all went wrong when Guigs n Bonehead left. The spirit of the band changed. Actually, there was an unhappy atmosphere when BHN was being recorded and part of why Bonehead left according to him.
when I was in high school I loved the direction of Standing on The Shoulder of Giants, it had a shoegaze psychedelic vibe that was very fitting with Oasis
