During the communist era, it was not a subject of public debate; in the 1990s, only the families of the murdered fought to preserve the memory of its victims. We present 35 years of relations between Warsaw and Kyiv from the perspective of the historical and political dispute over the Volhynia Massacre. We ask whether the Polish state did everything it could to prevent the glorification of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, responsible for the genocide, among our neighbors.
