Are Putin's threats regarding nuclear weapons and Kaliningrad just propaganda, or a real element of Russia's strategy to pressure the West?
In "Fog of War," Grzegorz Ślubowski speaks with Lieutenant Colonel Maciej Korovai about Vladimir Putin's speech at the Valdai Forum, Russia's thinking on escalation, and how the Kremlin is trying to intimidate Europe. The conversation touches on Kaliningrad, nuclear weapons, the Oreshnik missile, the war in Ukraine, and operations below the threshold of open war with NATO.
Korovai explains that Russia is not just preparing for more months of war in Ukraine, but is reshaping the country for a long conflict with the West. The economy, administration, propaganda, elites, and the way regions are governed are all changing. The Kremlin is building a system in which war becomes a permanent mechanism of power.
This is a conversation about how to read Russian signals, what Putin really wants, and why Europe should take Russian threats seriously—without panicking, but also without pretending that it's just theater.

1. RoSSja stanie się pariasem świta.
