It's really not "modern cartridge" advantage, its modern chambering advantage. The .243 can have just as much advantage, if the chamber is cut with a longer freebore. I bought a 260AI chambered barrel with a magazine max OAL of 2.93", SAAMI length is 2.80", giving it 0.13" more freebore and that much more case capacity. So it's somewhat misleading to downgrade the older cartridges, just because their OEM chambers were cut short; they're just as good, but need longer throats in a new barrel.
This was great and also mind blowing that every 100 rounds fired the erosion is about .007 that's significant and even tho I'm extremely new to rifle reloading it's very surprising
That was a fantastic presentation, I really appreciate the cut out of the barrel and an excellent explanation. Well done ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ
Very well illustrated and presented. Only nit pick, and a small one, is the ogive is really the entire portion from tip to bearing surface contact. So, one is really seating bullets focusing on that point.
Having recently gotten into precision shooting, it's depressing to learn just how fast barrels degrade in accuracy. But I guess for hunters this discussion is splitting hairs.
