What do you think of the petrol V8 Y62?

Yes fuel economy will be slightly higher than an equivalent diesel, but where you save is cheaper maintenance costs that are also less frequent. My only economy tip I'd say is minimise the amount of stuff you put on the roof and don't get monster tyres.

The most important thing is you get out their and explore the country.

Thanks Guys really who gives a shit when your driving the coolest V8 4WD around.

Great drone footage

Safe travels Cheers

Honestly guys
That’s fantastic.
I drive a Burra powered Territory Cairns to Adelaide every Christmas, & I average mid 12litbper 100kms.
Your doing really well

Your making helium 3 and 4 with that beautiful v8

In middle east 35 c is cold its usually where im at 43plus sometime 48 or even 50

Hmm, thats actually very close to what i get, going to or from Adelaide to Cairns going through Eromanga etc in my LX470.  All loaded up with gear plus bullbar, lights etc etc. no roofrack! 13.5 to 15.5 depending on headwind on the flats, that can be horrendous sometimes.

Well Done. Gratefully appreciated and enjoyed. Last time down that way was xmas 1989 driving back from Perth for the final time, (Fruited out Tojo with to many clicks) back home to Gold Coast. (Before FI/FO was the norm)Your Journey assisted our planned South Australia trip mid 2022 from Brissy. Planned vehical - Nissan Patrol.
Thanks. Nio P

Hi guys an accurate real world test..when you have V8 weighing close to 3 ton and as aero dynamic as a house brick 12 -14 close to the mark. Recently coming up the Birdsville Track towing a 2.5 ton caravan with howling head wind with LC 200  22 litre per hundred ouch ...
got to love V8s though!!

Nice Guys

Ha ha classic…….. Hay Plains and epic photos in the same sentence……. Never thought I’d hear that!!

Highway driving at 13 litres per 100 kms is OK for a big V8 when it is very hot outside - the airconditioner is working hard and the high ambient temperatures does have an impact overall.  A stock standard 200 Series diesel is probably 11 litres per 100 kms in the same conditions.

You're running slightly bigger tyres so economy is still be down compared to the tyres it comes with.  On the flats I was getting 11.7Lt/100km around town 13.5. Towing was 16.9 but now with extra stuff on the roof rack it gone up 14.4 on the flats, 14.9 around town and towing 23.2Lt/100km. P.S towing a 3.4 tonne van.

Just travelled through central aus and petrol was almost 50 cents per litre cheaper than diesel.  So a big petrol is a no brainer.

Thanks for the revue. Some reviewers and tuners say 91 RON is OK 80% of the time, and doesn't use more fuel. Save 8% of fuel usage - if 91 is 10% cheaper - by filling with a premium (with injector cleaning detergents) every 4th tank. Save with speed reductions too. 110 KMH: wind resistance is a square function, so 110x110=12,100. Driving at 95 KMH, 95x95=9025. 12100/9025=40% more wind resistance 110 versus 95KMH. 90 KMH is 50% less wind resistance than 110 KMH. Bigger tyres sap energy too, so the faster one goes, the more they suck fuel. So if one takes 15% longer to get there, it might be costing instead of 14.5, it could be 11 or even less. Over 15,000 km, that's a saving of let's say 25% or 3.5 litres per 100 KM. At $2.00 a litre, that is $7 every 100KM, $70 per 1,000 and for 15,000, that's  $1,000. That's more than a year's servicing cost (although not in my Discovery 4's case). Stopping distance towing is not too good at 110 either. But pull over or speed up if someone wants to overtake. Caravan drivers of trundle along saving fuel - it's why caravan drivers are such pain in the asses. But if on a single lane with no passing spots we should all speed up to the speed limit. But a Prado cannot do that - the diesel ones are gutless. Yes I've owned two (the petrol was OK actually). The Patrol can speed up while towing, and easily. Its weight and suspension and width and wheelbase length make it a better tower than anything but a USA made RAM etc.The Patrol can be a good citizen it seems to me, and a comfy place to see the world from too. This review from a caravan maker compared three vehicles, and the Patrol got better than the 200 series ... but I always wonder if they really brimmed the Patrol's fuel tanks!!!

100km 13.7

You gotta Love the Mighty Nissan Patrol!

Great video guys
I’ve got a Patrol on order arriving next March
Can I ask what exhaust you guys are running because it sounds awesome in the video

That’s why I bought a diesel

It'll be interesting to see the towing figures once the van is hooked up
