I don’t usually comment on stuff much because…. Whatever. But i listen to this podcast every episode and have been a fan of ferns comedy for years. I also relate to Allison in so many ways, and genuinely find this podcast really comforting because you say things I’m often thinking, and i love it. Eg Marilyn Manson didn’t make thriller 😂 I don’t find you cold, I think you’re great, and it’s nice to see someone just be. Lots of people - I’m absolutely neurodivergent in some ways and maybe this relates more to us - can feel when someone is putting on an act, and that is more off putting that someone just showing up as themselves. Also remember that for everyone who comments something negative, there’s a whole load of people like me who barely comment, who feel positively but cba to get on the app and type something out.

fern please don't listen to people telling you to change, it's such a sexist thing for people to demand women to perform "niceness" when that demand isn't made of men.
the podcast works cause of your dynamic. and i put niceness in quotes cause it's not actually niceness they want, it's saccharine sweetness that men find non threatening cause they hate when we speak our minds

I met Alison in Westport a few years ago after her brilliant show and shared how much I loved your older podcast, I would relisten to episodes after hard days. Re: watching films in the 80s, 90s, early 2000s - there wasn't as much output so we were often anticipating new releases AND we could only access new media in the context it was intended eg blockbusters on big screens with big audiences.
It felt like we were allowed to just enjoy/dislike something and we didn't need to justify it.
