Disney Princesses: Disney Princesses vs. Real History 1/2
Disney Princesses vs. Real History 2/2

While the romantic and tragically true tales of fair maidens are fascinating, the real juicy tea is with the villains! Let’s take a look at the inspiration behind 7 of Disney’s devious baddies, and meet real historic antagonists who hail from similar cultures, and committed equivalent evil deeds:
Te Kā, Moana 2016 - Taupō Volcano eruption, 232 CE
Ursula - The Little Mermaid 1989 - Melusine, Countess of Anjou 900s
Prince John - Robin Hood 1973 - King John, 1189 – 1199

Ursula had 6 octupi legs and 2 human arms which adds up to 8 limbs.

Dr. Facilier may show the darker side of Voodoo/Hoodoo but then you have Mama Odi who embodies the light and faithful side of Voodoo/Hoodoo.

The part on Te Kā was absolutely ingenious, because the environment can absolutely fulfill villainous roles! Making her a dual goddess with Te Fiti as her vernal, life-giving side was so beautiful! It's quite poetic and makes her read as a sympathetic antagonist in the movie as the force of she is.

I played Ursula in my schools play, which was my dream role, and a friend of the directors did the makeup. She said I was the only one who would let her do drag queen makeup on me. 😎

Off topic, but Frollo is without a doubt the most evil Disney villain ever!!

Fun fact -
The original little mermaid story was written by the author with a sad ending because he was in love with a man who he knew would never return his feelings.

It's just like that saying goes: "Art often imitates life," or in many cases, "Entertainment is often based on various moments in real history."

I just need to say thank you. While I know Prince/King John wasn’t the best monarch to ever reign, it’s always bothered me that he’s been vilified in comparative to his brother. Like, he was no saint, but at least he actually about England, to a point. Richard never gave a crap about England and just wanted to play hero in the Crusades. At least John tried and didn’t abandon his duties and obligations the second he took rule!

Fun fact octopuses don't have tentacles, they have arms. Tentacles have suckers only at the end while arms have tentacles all the way up. I just wanted to share that. Also they have a brain in each arm allowing them to taste, touch, and independently manipulate each arm.

What makes Disney's animated Robin Hood even more fascinating is that it began as an adaptation of the Reynard the Fox stories. Once you know that, the animal characters make even more sense: Reynard becomes Robin Hood, Isengrim becomes the Sheriff, Chanticleer becomes Alan-a-Dale etc

This is fun to watch! I'm so glad that you did Judge Claude Frollo; he was one of the villains I wanted to see in the video. Also, could you do the Disney's Prince Charming segment? It won't be complete without it

Please make a video like this but comparing the protagonists of the Barbie movies from the 2000s to real women from history.

In Portugal we have a tale similar to Melusine, the Goatfoot/Goatfeet woman. A noble man married a misterious woman who he found in the woods and discovers that she has either one or two goat hooves instead of feet (I've heard the tale told both ways). They have a son and a daughter. One day the noble forgets his wife warned him not to make the sign of the cross in front of her, and does it after a fight between their dogs. She transforms into a demon in front of his eyes and flees with their daughter.

Ooh please do a 3rd episode and cover Lady Tremaine from Cinderella, Hades from Hercules, Commander Rourke from Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and Mother Gothel from Tangled! That’d be so cool! Thanks for the video Lindsay!
