Join us as we spend a weekend in Butlins Minehead in Somerset. Did we enjoy it and would we recommend it as a Holiday Park for you to visit? We let You know..
Butlins Holiday Park in Minehead is the biggest Butlins in the UK, so we wanted to know how it compared to the other biggest holiday parks in the UK.

For our stay we had booked a 'Comfort Apartment' and we also booked the Premium Food package & Lunch Plan, so we were hoping that at £620 for a family of 4 for three nights we would be kept happy.
When you arrive at Butlins Minehead, you will immeadiately see that the park is very big, dominating the front of the town of Minehead. With a capacity of upto 10,000 guests, you would not expact it to be small.
How did we find it?
First up, just finding the apartment was a bit of a mission,  we found ours in a very "Prisoner Cell block H" looking looking row. We were on the first floor, and after two attempts, we managed to find the right one.
Accomodation wise, the 'Comfort Apartment', although reasonably clean looking, it was quite cramped. Two bedrooms, basic cooking utensils and a semi comfortable sofa in the little living room, we knew this would be used a base only, and not somewhere we would be spending cosy evenings.
Comfort wise 6/10, practicality wise 8/10

Then you have the park itself - It is huge with the Skyline Pavilion being the centre piece.
Within this huge complex you have, various food outlets, such as Chopstix, a Cornish Pasty Shop, Papa Johns, Burger king, Firehouse Grill, Costa Coffee, A fish & chip shop, The Beachcomber Inn and the the american styled Diner - at least that is what we found, but there oculd be more!
You have American Pool, 10 Pin Bowling, Puppet Shows, a stage showing various acts, a couple of other sports bars and of course an enormous arcade. There must be as many grab mahines as there are apartments, but during our whole stay, we failed to see anyone winning any cuddly toys, so we would advise giving them a miss and just let your children go on the other array of games, where they can at least win tickets and then get a small prize.

There are also 3 huge entertainment venues, bigger than we have experienced at any other park. You have Reds, which has a sort of disco vibe, with a capacity of 1,100.
You have the Centre Stage, which is where you will be able to see the Red Coats in action. This holds around 1,800
Then you have Studio 36, which is where we watched the Mythical Beast show and this holds another 1,500 guest if required. So if you are worried about getting seats and being able to see anything, do not!
Outside you have sports courts, such as tennis, football and netball and you also have an some great payareas and parks to keep youngsters occupied, whilst you can chill and have a drink in the beer gardens just next to them.
There is a fair ground, by no means the best as it all looks quite dated, but it does kill 30 minutes or so, with Go carts and a Helter Skelter and waltzers and a few little stores where you can have a go at trying to knock down cans for £6  a go, to win a £1 stuffed toy

Then there is Splashworld, there huge indoor pool, with a lazy river, multiple slides, wave machine as well as another pool, which is based for the younger ones and those that just fancy a swim. There is also an outdoor pool you can use if you have the weather.

Then the food package, we had a premium food package (breakfast and dinner). You have strict times with these, but for £260, for a family of 4 for 3 nights, we found this to be totally worth it would definitely recommend. We give you our food reviews throughout.

So would we go back to Butlins Minehead? We have to say YES! The complex and food give it a solid 8/10
And we also suggest to anyone going, book the food package and if you want a bit of luxury, upgrade from a comfort apartment as they have better options.
