Kings and Generals animated historical documentary series on modern warfare the Great War and the Ottoman history during the World War I continues with a video on the national revolts and the creation of a slate of new republics in the Caucasus and Middle East. When the Russian Empire collapses in 1917, its armies abandon the Caucasus and Persia, leaving a deadly power vacuum behind. The Ottoman Empire races east to reclaim lost territory, seize strategic railways and oil fields, and pursue ambitions stretching toward Central Asia. In its path stand Georgians, Armenians, Assyrians, Pontic Greeks, Cossacks, Azerbaijanis, and Kurds, each fighting for survival, autonomy, or independence. This episode follows the chaotic campaigns of 1918, from Georgian armored trains and German intervention to the Armenian victories at Sardarapat and Aparan. It examines the Assyrian resistance around Urmia, the fall of Trabzon, the doomed Cossack republics, and the struggle for Baku’s oil. British Dunsterforce, Bolshevik troops, Ottoman armies, local militias, and rival national movements collide as old empires disintegrate and new states emerge. Behind every advance lies a humanitarian catastrophe. Massacres, deportations, famine, genocide, and forced migration transform the region and scatter entire communities. By the war’s end, fragile republics have appeared, alliances have collapsed, and Soviet invasion looms. This is the story of how Russia’s withdrawal turned the Caucasus into one of the First World War’s most complex and devastating battlefields. Its consequences would shape Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and the region for generations to come.

2. You have the portrait of Osman Nuri Pasha of the 1877 war, when it was actually Nuri Pasha Killigil
Empires, Nations and Tribes rising and falling against each other, with state building and genocide happening side by side.
This deserves more exploration. I would suggest a video about:
- The Assyrians as a whole, especially the army of Agha Petros and how it operated in another sovereign state - Persia;
- The British forces in the Caspian and Caucasus. It seems unreal that even in these obscure backwaters we would find the British Empire for a few random months. Also Dunsterforce under Dunsterville??
- The Mountainous Armenia under Nzhdeh;
- How exactly did The Ottoman and the Azeri forces linked if Armenia and Georgia were connected aswell?
The fact that the ottomans were pushed east of Erzincan, only to somehow reach Baku and then collapse shortly after is very hard to grasp.
