For a moment I stood in Francis's shoes as he willed that train up the hill. To him this is his favourite locomotive, and this was it's last run, it's last breath of life before it's retired and it wasn't going to be beat. It fought against that gradient to prove it's worth one more time, wheels slipping, engine screaming, one more fight.

And for that reason I can understand his tears of pride. May we all find passion and enjoyment in the small things that make us happy.

I have zero interest in trains and locomotives, but still I'm invested in this channel, only because of the contagious enthusiasm of Francis. A creator from a foreign country, that makes videos about something that doesn't interest me, and I'm here for it!

Thank you for your channel.  My father served his entire 40 year career working for Freightliners and passed away last month: trains were a big part of our life growing up.  Dad arranged for me to be allowed onto the foot plate of (an operational) Flying Scotsman when i was a young boy.  It’s a memory i will always cherish and your videos help restore many other memories.  Keep up the good work.

That has got to be the best class 56 thrashing I have ever heard! That was mental.

As a Preston native and spotter during my childhood in the 80s, I totally get the magic of watching the dock train (as we called it) powering up that hill onto the main line. Usually it was double headed 37s, so a real treat to see a 56 doing it. 56's were always my favourite loco, followed by 50's (and Deltics of course). Back then the APT was also doing trials on the West Coast Main Line, and would also create excitement when visiting Preston Station. Just seeing your reaction to that absolute beast of a loco screaming and overcoming gravity is truly heartwarming
