My Great Uncle Andrew Main 15 th battalion of Royal Scots died 4th April 1917 Arras just before the Battle of Arras aged only 19

My Granddad fought in the Battle of Arras on the other side of the fence. His name was mentioned in the German archives that survived both World Wars till today. But the reports of that battle are mention identical sacrifices that the enemy suffered. Living in 2026 we must embrace peace and remain alert at the same time. We are blessed that we can connect with each other easily through media such as this one. And be reminded by these videos what happens if we loose respect for each other.

Excellent film. I have been 4 times with my late mother to Roclincourt Valley Cemetery Arras to visit the grave of her uncle Pte Samuel Murdoch 7th Argylls KIA 9th April 1917. As Mum was a living relative we got invites to attend the wonderful 100th commemoration in 2017. I would like to comment that Sturgeon turned up at the evening jolly in the town square to accept plaudits as "The President of Scotland" but her absence was noted at the solemn ceremony in the cemetery in the morning .Probably too busy with a French friend. Oooooh la la.

My Grandfather John Leonard Thacker 9th Gordon's was captured at this battle on the 24/4/17. Spent the remainder of the war as a POW.

Art Taylor...my great uncle is buried at Villiers au Bois. He died april 10th on vimy. 85th Battalion

I visited the memorial, amongst others, last year 2025 with my grandson. Deeply moving seeing how many names of the missing, planning on returning next year for an extended tour with my son. Also Holland where my great uncle is buried having lost his life as a Wellington bomber pilot along with his crew mates.

Alexander Adam argyle and Sutherland highlanders died 9th April arras had fought at loos and devil wood. My great grandfather.

My uncle died at Arras pvt Charles MacDonald 202654 he was wounded at monchy le preux trying to take the chemical works he was wounded on the 23rd of April 1917 he died of wounds 28th of April aged 32years of age he was with the 1/4th Gordon Highlanders he was taken to casualty clearing station 30 but i couldnt find any more information than that he left behind a widow Sarah Macdonald who last resided at 48 wells street inverness i couldnt find any further details on her RIP.. TO BOTH....thats all i can say...
