Trends in jazz came and went. Woody’s herds kept swinging through them all right to to the final bar.

John Fedchock - What's New. I decided I needed to play trombone at that level when I heard this for the first time!

Woody was a giant and every band he led since his takeover from Isham Jones was a monument to his memory. He is in the true sense of the word "a legend".

With Basie, Ellington, Maynard, etc-Woody was one of the great bandleaders-and an appealing soloist. Also a true gentleman as I understand it. RIP Mr Herman.

I love this album, and especially It Don't Mean A Thing, and I am sad that I can't find it on Spotify.
