This week on YouTube it's 'Good Will Hunting'. This was such a lovely movie to record, we both loved it. Niamh wasn't expecting the romantic plot to be so to the forefront of this story so she was loving that, and both of us laughed and laughed at what was a hilarious script!

Matt Damon is working with the city of Boston to have a Robin Williams statue on the park bench where that scene took place. So many tourists come looking for it.

That monologue in the park bench... pure gold, and a truly oscar worthy performance by Robin, R.I.P

Robin and Matt are phenomenal in this, but the best single moment of acting in this movie is Minnie Driver's face during the big fight. The way her eyes tear up when he says he's an orphan, and then the way she scans his body when he says he had cigarettes put out on him. She's going through a HUGE gamut of emotions in about 5 seconds and it is unreal.

The scene where Robin is talking about his wife farting in her seat was made up on the spot by Robin Williams. Matt Demon's laughter was 100% real because the entire scene was not in the script. Even the camera moves a little because the cameraman was laughing so hard.

Robin Williams ... what a person ... what a artist ... tragic end ..... RIP uncle Robin

There's a recent interview with Matt Damon about that last scene. Apparently Robin did like 25-30 takes, and each time he'd pop out the door, he'd say something different. Matt was standing next to Gus Van Zant, the director. When Robin came out and delivered the "He stole my line" bit, Gus and Matt just tensed up, and both were like, "That's it! That's the one."

26:27 Fun fact. Skylar is holding her binoculars backwards.

It's fun how Niamh commented on Skylar's accent. She's played by Minnie Driver, who also voiced Jane in Disney's Tarzan movie.

I also do love how both Sean and Gerald genuinely want what's best for Will, but each of them quantify success differently. To Gerald success means prestige, money, professional achievements and recognition, but to Sean it means personal happiness, having a sense of safety and loving yourself, as well as feeling the love of others and for others. Gerald is only concerned with intellectual aspirations and status, while Sean cares more about mental and emotional well-being.

Niamh gonna cry. Gonna cry hard 😂

Will insists he knows it's not his fault, but the first thing he says when he breaks down is "I'm sorry"

And of course Sean brings out a lottery ticket to annoy his mathematician friend.

Robin's lakeside monologue was one of the most moving and well written pieces of script on film anywhere. He recited it perfectly, and it hits Will just where he was vulnerable. Great film, perfect ending. Tears flow.

Ambition isn't a good in and of itself. Brilliantly wise, Danny.

This is one of my favorite movies, not only because of the great script and acting, but because of the theme of a genius who might turn his back on his talent. As part of the Vietnam War/Hippie generation, I saw a tremendous number of talented people throw away their lives. I showed this movie to my daughter when she was about to enter high school. She was a brilliant student, especially gifted in mathematics, and I hoped it would ease that struggle with not fitting in with her friends (we always discuss movies in depth afterward). She went on to graduate summa cum laude and win a 4-year scholarship. Last May, she graduated college, cum laude, in just 3 years. Ironically, she would have been summa again, except for a C in organic chemistry.

Don't know why I put any thought into this, but the chance of that car making it from Boston to California has be like 0%

Adding to the chorus here; great editing 👌

just for the knowledge lovers out there: a "photographic memory" is technically, that is correctly, termed an *EIDETIC memory 👌🏼

Eidetic memory is the ability to recall images, sounds, or events with great accuracy, often after seeing them only once.

First time watcher of the channel and new subscriber. Thank you for allowing yourselves to be vulnerable for this film. Very hard to try and hid the raw emotion this movie can elicit. Looking forwarding to a lot more content from you both. Absolutely wonderful reaction.

This is such an all-time great script. Unimaginable that it was written by Ben and Matt at such a young age. Loved the reaction, seeing how much enjoyment you both got out of it.
