In this video, I’m reviewing the Lojan Flex rigid heddle loom. I’ll walk you through its features, share my thoughts on how it weaves, and let you know my overall impression. Hope you enjoy it! FYI - I accidentally warped with the heddle in the up position 🙊

Love your videos. On this one the “interlude” music was so loud and your speaking so soft, I was adjusting the level constantly.

Hi Kelly, I am in the UK and was impressed with your review that I purchased the lojan RH loom from George Weil here in the UK. Your clear review was responsible for this. Thank you very much.

Thank you for the review. I love the back/front beams it would make tensioning so much easier. The conversion is genius!. I’ve looked at Schacht’s version, but it’s too narrow. I’m so contemplating selling my Ashford knitters and buying one of these + a conversion. Looking forward to your review of the conversion when you get one. Thanks for all the knowledge you share.

Well, you are a fantastic enabler! I just pre-ordered the 20" 8 shaft Flex table loom and stand using your link. So excited! I already have a Kromski rigid heddle loom and a homemade inkle loom, but I also pre ordered the inkletje loom so I can have something easier to take along to group meetings.

I like the additional warp and cloth beams, very neat. And interesting that the heddles hang by the top rather than being slotted into heddle blocks by the base like many rigid heddle looms. The tensioning does look a lot better than eg. a knitters loom. Thank you for mentioning the potential ergonomic issues too, especially without a stand. Great video Kelly, thank you!

That shed when warping! So crisp :D This loom looks incredible. I'm seeing where I could improve my own home made loom at so many points. Mainly the rollers being below the back and front beams which means the shed isn't affected as you gather more finished fabric onto the roller! Thank you so much for sharing!

Just helping my wife assemble her first loom. (Lojan Flex). Finish sanding and 4 coats of wipe on varnish was pretty easy and it goes together well and appears durable. The ratchet wheels with magnets seem very functional. Seems nicely designed from my woodworking perspective.Thanks for sharing your review and assembly process. It helped me make a good decision for a special birthday.

Great review! I just added a Leclerc 45 " Mira2, and assembling today.
I have my RH loom in another brand. The shed on this one looks amazing, much bigger. And that it can take 2 heddles or convert to multi shaft. Well thought out.
I think rigid heddle looms are powerful ! You can do so much. And quick to warp etc,barely any waste.
Think the stand is a great idea too. Can we anywhere, and not rely on a table. Thank you Kelly, happy weaving!
Will be looking into this loom.

I might be interested in the conversion kit to create a 4-shaft loom. If so, I will order through your affiliate link. Thanks, Kelly!

@CilfaNieraad 7 months ago

Small correction on the conversion kits:
If you have the RHL and you want the 8 shaft, you will have to buy both the 4 shaft and the 8 shaft kits. The latter is an extension on the former. So it's better (cheaper) to buy the 8 shaft loom and then the shaft-to-RH kit.
At least, that's how it is sold in Europe.

Hi Kelly I saw a video of yours a while ago where you shared a link to the craft paper you use . I thought I had book marked it but now can't find it. Would you be able to share that again please 😊 regards Delia

I just ordered this for my wife's first loom. $289 USD seems reasonable compared to others. Looks like a quality setup and the simple cam locks appear effective. I liked the idea of expansion and, as a woodworker, getting to apply a finish of choice is a bonus rather than a demerit. A hand-rubbed varnish or spray lacquer would be more durable than paste wax, but you are right about the smell of wax being more pleseant than other finishes. Is a "warp" the set of longer fibers that is first prepared and threaded through the heddle?

@barbf8628 1 year ago

Thank you for the review. Have you tried the Leclerc Bergere, and if so, how does it compare to this one? I want to begin, but am torn between the two. Thanks, Anyone?

@marysortman1218 1 year ago

I might have missed it in your video, but how is the tension on this loom? Thank you

@Poultrychick 1 year ago (edited)

Are other heddles compatible? I don’t like the idea of sections in the heddle because of possible popping out? Do they do that?

I have been debating on a loom for a couple years and the conversion of this one has me intrigued.

@FrancesGentle-f4v 1 year ago

Do they make 4 shaft conversion application attachments for the ashford rigid heddle loom and what is the cost. I live in Toronto Canada eh,😊 and am a novice Weaver with a 32" wide Ashford loom and would be interested in expanding my repertoire.
