Today, we unravel the chilling mystery of the “Giallo dei Sibillini,” the 1980 disappearance of Jeannette Bishop May, former wife of banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild, and her assistant Gabriella Guerin in Sarnano, Italy. On a snowy November day, the two women vanished after driving into the Sibillini Mountains during a snowstorm, leaving behind a car buried in snow and a trail of unanswered questions. Found 14 months later near Lake Fiastra, their deaths—possibly from hypothermia or murder—sparked theories of Mafia ties, a Roman jewelry heist, and even Vatican connections. With the case reopened in 2024 as a double murder investigation, we dive into the eerie details, local legends, and new leads that continue to haunt this unsolved Italian mystery.
