Doesn't it seem weird that a dyson sphere needed an Omega reactor as opposed to just the sun, like isn't the whole point to use the stars energy entirely?

The Dyson Ship feels that they were built and assembled in the same Dyson Sphere. Think about it, there are many Solanae "Dockyards" all across the Zone. Someone from the Alliance though, "Hey! Let's make ships out of these Solenae technologies around us! Just because!" And the rest were "Alright-o!"

I love the design of this ship. The tech, colors, texture, all looks so alien. But to package it all in your standard Starfleet shape makes it so familiar at the same time. As if another species, from a different universe with different laws of physics, tried their hand at building a Starfleet ship.

I always had a soft spot for this design. It makes sense to me that Starfleet would make ships like these that specialized in exploring more exotic locals based on successful alien tech that were native to the region.

It was interesting to see it the first time back then and see just how different is it, compared to regular vessels. Really sold that "experimental ship using foreign technologies" vibe.

I likes the dual nature enough that Klingon variant is main for my KDF science captain.

Love the detail that the subspace folding whatever thing works just fine, but isn’t yet actually better than normal FTL. Adds some really nice texture to the lore.

This singlehandedly takes the cake of being the most Deviant Art of the most Deviant Art designs out there.

Last time i was this early dyson was a vacum

I know this is old lore for STO but dammit I love it to bits. One of my oldest toons flew a T5U Dyson ship for years before the T6 ones came out, and that bundle was an instant buy for me.

The saucer has Sith divided wedge weapon vibes.

This ship needs a TV series!

What i love about this ship is that it has a lot of influence from voyager’s profile in my opinion. One of my favorite ships.

Everyone making Dyson Vacuum references seem to have forgotten that the Bussard Collectors already perform the same function as a “vacuum”, in this case collecting space ~~dust~~ fuel. It’s already a space vacuum! 😉

It amazes me that STO lore is still the best post-VOY timeline expansion we have. It feels like if ENT never got canned and we kept getting DS9 quality shows, STO is where we'd end up.

I always used the Intel science escort when I played STO (feels like playing a mage in another MMO with all the elements I'm throwing around) but I do remember really enjoying the Dyson ships too.

Paramount needs to make this into the next Star Trek series

The Dyson class guaranteed to clean your quadrant or your gold pressed latinum back. 😂😅

I made the "Dyson Warbird/Aves Science Destroyer" my flagship on-line for around 4 years, I always thought it made it look like Cylon technology rather than Romulan

Bloody hell, James Dyson has really branched out

The patterning on the outer hull reminds me of Goa'uld designs from Stargate SG-1.

The new T6 variants they made of these are not only beautiful, they are mechanically some of the strongest ships in the game. The Romulan variant in particular, the Ralius, is amazing. Full spec Temporal + LtC Intel makes it a SIA monster, plus it gets the +15% Exotic Damage bonus from Science Ship mastery despite being able to equip and use an Experimental Weapon and CSV3.

The Klingon variant is also funny since you never expect a Klingon ship to hide its weapons.
