Heyyy a tip for bridling him if he doesn’t take the bit just stick your minger at the side of his lip as it makes him open his mouth for the bit and also when doing the girth put the girth straps through that little strap on the saddle pad as it helps hold the saddle pad so it doesn’t slip around under the saddle

A couple tips for you Aliyah when you trot try to post up and down a little softer, push your heels down, hold your legs tight, have a little bend in your elbow, and in the summer you should clip (shave) Rusty's body with horse body clippers that plug into the wall because electric clippers make the body hair uneven, and yes you are right you should clip his mane up to make Rusty look nice and clean☺️

rusty seems to be settling in really well!

a couple things that might help though, after using the wet sponge, you could use a magic brush, i find that it really helps to get a lot of the water off and also makes it look all smooth again (magic brushes are also amazing for getting off dry dirt and loose hair, its great for pretty much everything!)

make sure not to put the rug on him while hes wet.

and getting a gp saddle wouldnt be a bad idea! most people find it a lot more comfortable to ride in, its also good for jumping. but if you are comfortable in a dressage saddle, it would be best to find one you fit in well, i believe his current saddle is a little bit too small for you (this isnt meant in a rude way), obviously rustys comfort is important, but so is yours, so if you found one you fit in comfortably, you could get a saddle fitter out to make sure its comfy and fitted for rusty, then you could both be comfortable and enjoy your rides as much as possible.

wishing you well on your journey with him! :)

Hi Aliyah! I’m just giving you a quick tip! In your trot, if it feels like you have to do a lot of work getting up and down and you feel like you’re going a little slow that’s definitely not on you. Try to ask for a quick quicker trot on Rusty. They will help both you and Rusty with your trot! it will feel like you’re not getting tired as much!❤I hope this helps!❤ and I hope it makes sense 😂

As a rider, my trainer said  if u have trouble getting the bit in the horses mouth, stick your finger in the corner of his mouth, and the horse will open its mouth, but i dont know if that's for every horse/pony have fun!

A few tips I want to give you is when you press your horses tail just remember to take the towel and stand next to his butt not in front of his butt sometimes in horses don’t know you’re at the back of them they are gonna kick so I’m just giving you some little tips that is gonna help you when you get a horse that lipstick cake but for now I suggest you stand next to the horses butt when you call me he is dial

I'm so happy for you Aliyah that you have your own horse!!! Just a few tips, when you put the reins on the bridle make sure they will be at the bottom of the bit because otherwise the reins won't function as they are supposed to. Also, make sure to be on the correct diagonal, since being on the incorrect diagonal is uncomfortable for the horse. A tip to see if you are on the correct diagonal is to look at the horses shoulders when trotting. You want to be rising with the horses outside leg (leg nearest the arena fence). Again, I'm so happy for you!!! But please remember that it's normal to make mistakes and it's okay to make mistakes as long as it's not dangerous for you or the horse!!!

Girls It’s spelt “girth” Not “gearth”!!

A little tip for when putting on the halter, instead of putting it on in front of him and like yk how you do it, keep the top thing attached and slide the nose band thing on first and then slide over the top of the halter on the right ear while standing on the left side and then slide it over the left ear, just a tip but you do your own way! :) ❤ I love your videos btw!!!

I am relatively new, just started following along when you got rusty and I’m like extremely interested in your journey with him. I have seen a lot of people giving you tips and one I haven’t really seen is a tip for your elbows. Try to soften your elbows and have your arm basically at a right angle. I struggled with this for a while but it makes slowing down and turning easier (and as you progress with your riding and learn how to get rusty in a frame and using himself and his muscles it makes it easier). It’s a good thing to start practicing now. Cant wait to see how you and rusty progress! ❤ (also you should get dressage cut saddle pads because your saddle is dressage. I would also recommend clipping him soon as he seems really fluffy and it can help him not sweat as much during and after riding. It also makes him easier to clean)

To check if your stirrups are the right length put your hand by the top where you connect the stirrup leather and measure the stirrup to your armpit. If it’s touching your armpit with no bends then it should be the right length. Also make sure you change your stirrup leathers round once in awhile because when you get on your always getting on the left and it can stretch the leather and make it longer than the other one. And you should consider getting a new saddle. At the moment the saddle is too small for you so your sitting on the cantle and that can be uncomfortable for rusty.

You guys will be a great team in no time.

Couple of checks along the way..

A bit must face a certain way on the bridle as they are sometimes curved so get someone to check the bit is facing the correct way.

Also make sure your reins are connected the right way too as they looked inside out - the buckle usually faces towards the horse. Hard to explain sorry!

All things that’s come with experience ❤you’re doing fabulous!

Happy horse owning ❤

I couldn’t really see but remember when putting the saddle on the saddle pad to put the girth through the saddle pad strap and you might want to look at getting a new saddle as it seems a bit small. Other than that you and hun are amazing I love watching your journey ❤

AWWW RUSTY IS SOOOOOO OOOO CUTEEEEEEEE❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ 5:08

Aliah I am so happy for you. Congrats on your first pony!!❤️😁🎉
Your a great rider and you'll learn so much more along the trail.👍🏻XOXO

I want to just say since you have more like a dressage saddle ( I’m western but my sisters been doing English for like a decade) I would say to get a dressage saddle pad bc the gp or jump ones won’t fit as well and won’t be as comfy and I know you want your pony to be happy!! But that might just be me lol❤

Ps: thanks Aliyah!!!

Tip ! Make sure when ur cantering trotting or whatever ur on the right rein !

Ahhh so happy for u I can’t wait to see your and rusty’s journey hope you had a amazing time ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉

Quick tip try and let him stretch out when you are warming up so nice long reins and really try and get him to stretch out this can help him a lot and make him more comfortable and have a smoother ride!

You did amazing one tip put the girth through the keepers the little loop thing on the saddle pad it makes it so the saddle pad doesn’t slip and rub against him ❤
