Not going to lie. When I first saw this video come up in my feed, I immediately thought he had passed away. I am so glad to hear that he hasn’t passed, however, I am so incredibly sorry about his diagnosis. Despite his rare diagnosis, he is still Dandy and I just know he is going to live the best life as a pasture prince! Sending all the love!❤️❤️❤️
I am not sure people realize how young Harlow is. She is amazing as a responsible horse owner/rider. Making the right decisions are some of the most difficult but most important decisions as a responsible owner of any animal. I hope many others will learn to be responsible through your journey.
This is SO important to talk about. Young riders were seeing him having issues, they assumed something was riders fault or bad behavior. This is a great example of a horse showing signs of something wrong. Very stoic pony, he tried regardless. This is the influencing the young horse generation needs! Thank you both for sharing this journey, so very sorry for you all & him. Great example of how they talk to us, and owners listening.
You one hundred percent made the right decision. Putting a pony through five surgeries would have been cruel. Fortunately for horses, they live in the moment and he will be so, so happy being a pasture pet. He won't know or care what he is missing out on. I am so very sorry you all are having to go through this. And very grateful you discovered the issue before anything worse could happen. And so grateful he can live normally in the pasture. Honestly with such a devastating diagnoses, that is the best case scenario. Much love to you all!
Dandy is becoming a Pasture Prince. It's the kindest decision for him for now. I'm so sorry for the pain you and Harlow have gone through in having to make this decision.
I had one with Cervical Stenosis like Dandy. He couldnt feel his backend at times. Scary stuff and sad for the horse. Mine made it miraculously 12 more years. I pray Dandy has a good painless retirement for many many years!
I’m so sorry for you both. But as the parent in this situation, I feel so much sympathy for you Chelsea. Social media is a double edged sword. It’s so easy for people to forget that this is real life. And real life is brilliant, awful, exciting, devastating and everything in between.
It’s a fine line deciding what content to put out (especially where a minor is involved) but it’s one you walk with great judgement. Anyone who has ever owned horses knows how things can change seemingly on the roll of a dice. The silver lining is you still have your beautiful boy. And I have no doubt he will be loved and cared for, for the rest of his days. If only every pony/horse with a diagnosis like Dandy’s was as lucky. ❤
Such sad news about Dandy. Such a devastating diagnosis for a beautiful young pony. Meg Elphick had her homebred Ari with a similar condition and was retired at a very young age. Harlow, I feel so sorry for you and Chelsea. You have done everything you can. You are such caring owners. You have made the right decision for Dandy, and he can enjoy a long retirement with other horses. Sending love and best wishes ❤
There is no reason for u guys to apologise to this heartbreaking news. We all should know now that u guys are doing what's best for dandy and that he is being loved and looked after how he should be. Dandy is the most gorgeous and caring soul 💕 just know that dandy will enjoy his retirement and we are all here for u ❤️
My utmost respect for you guys for dealing with the situation the way you have. Meg had a close call on him, Harlow had a couple of even closer calls. To continue riding Dandy would have meant risking an even greater disaster for rider and/or Dandy. Love to you all ❤
Im absolutely devastated to hear this 😢 and im crying aswell💔 the fact that some people are commenting things like "first" and "second pin" is disgusting harlow is crying and is sharing a though time with us all and all you care about is being first. we all know what was really happening, and that harlow wasnt favouring blue over dandy i hope that the hate comments will now stop and she should not be blamed becasue like she said its nobody's fault and what she was doing was best for dandy and her. Dandy will still have a wonderful life with you all ❤ sending my love to you all xxxx
I just wanted to say that your love and care for dandy really shines through. Even though the problems can’t be fixed, and that you can’t ride him anymore. the bond you have is something so special that nothing can take away. Dandy is so lucky to have you, and the way you’ve given Him love, safety, and happiness means more than any ‘solution’ ever could. Sending you both strength and kindness. “Love you Harlow and everyone in the family I really wish you guys the best!”❤️❤️
Despite this heart-breaking diagnosis, it’s wonderful to see how attentively you listened to your horse in all these different moments. So often signs of discomfort or pain are overlooked, but you gave space, respect, and understanding instead of pushing through. That kind of sensitivity not only protects their well-being but also builds a deeper trust and partnership. It's truly inspiring.
They are all your dreams and all your heartbreak. A lifetime in horses has shown me how cruel it can be to the horse and the one who owns them and all we can do on their behalf is make sure they are happy and pain free, whatever that entails. You are the right kind of horse owner. You’ve put him first and continue to do so.
We also have a beautiful paddock ornament so feel your pain. Bless you all. Hugs to Harlow.
To the people who are commenting "first" and "second" and so forth...that is so disrespectful towards the family. They going through devastating news on Dandy's diagnosis and decision they had to make and yall just want to race to be "first to comment"...shame on you... I'm so sorry Harlow and Chelsea for this news. You doing the best for Dandy and he is in good hands. Much love to you and family! ❤
