This was a legitimate science fiction movie when it came out.  Very good story and decent acting.

It took me to the comment section to realize I was looking at Charlie before the addiction. The man was a fantastic actor. All he needed to do was what Robert Downey did. Realize his life and his talent was more important than the high.
