We continue Where the Land Runs Out from Cape Town, beginning the final stretch of the journey north along South Africa’s West Coast.

Before leaving the city behind, we follow the Cape Peninsula through Kommetjie and over Chapman’s Peak, drop into Hout Bay and continue along the Atlantic Seaboard. From there, the road carries us north to the West Coast National Park and Langebaan before moving on through Paternoster, Velddrif and the fishing villages further up the coast.

As we push north, the landscape becomes quieter, drier and more remote. The familiar West Coast slowly gives way to Namaqualand, with mist, sparse vegetation, long gravel roads and increasingly isolated settlements shaping the final leg toward Groenriviermond, Port Nolloth and Alexander Bay.

Where the Land Runs Out is a continuous journey around South Africa’s coastline, with each episode carrying the story further along the edge of the country.
