Ptolomeic greek egypt was a real power to be reckoned with out of all Alexander's successor states, and they had done a good job of ruling. Making Alexandria a wealthy and powerful city with the famous lighthouse and all. But ultimately, the Romans accomplished what the Greeks failed to do, while the greeks won, they failed to rule the world. Romans both won, and ruled the world. Also, always awesome to see my germanic ancestors having been an integral part and tradition of Roman military since the beginning.

Admittedly there is more to Cesar's warfare than just the Gaelic campaigns which were brilliant!

I love how each army has variety. Their armor and equipment isn't completely alike. Pre-industrial revolution.

As much as I admire Julius, have you ever thought how exactly a commander wins his battles?

What of his inner circle? the ones he trusts the most in the middle of the battle (mind you Caesar was one to his previous commander). The bodyguards and the symbol carriers that hold firm in a crisis? The men who outperform simplest tasks, who carry the messages to the furthest flank in minutes?

What answer it may be, it all reflects on the presence of the commander. How he is loved and respected by his soldiers, and Caesar proved this several times.
