One thing that I liked better in Dishonored 2 than in Dishonored 1, is the fact that, you can choose to play the game powerless, without help from The Outsider. Playing the game this way made me deeply appreciate the devs more and more, because you see many nooks and crannies in every level you haven't engaged just by the fact that you can't blink/far reach.

Amazing job at covering Dishonored 2 btw. Made me feel nostalgic of my high school days :D

I discovered Stilton's good ending by accident honestly. I was Ms. Choke-Out in my runs, since I didn't want to deal with people but didn't want High Chaos either, so I was like "Eh. You're here. Naptime." And then was stunned when I used to timepiece immediately after and saw a few servants sweeping the ground of a very non-decrepit manor.

The Dust District is by far my favorite level in the game. Because of many reasons but one of them being my head canon of how ridiculous it would look to a passer by to see Crovo, mask on and all, sitting infront of the door cursing Jindosh while frantically writing possible riddle solutions in the dirt.

33:24 the Jindosh lock is fascinating from a storytelling standpoint. a lock that must be "solved" is categorically less secure than one relying on an arbitrary key, and it really speaks to Jindosh's hubris that he thought he'd be the only person smart enough to do so.

I cracked the riddle on my first playthrough (mostly out of spite) and didn't realize until NG+ just how much I missed out on

Dishonored 1 is a masterpiece. Dishonored 2 felt like a well-deserved victory lap lol. I thought many times, "Arkane is just showing off at this point."

Delilah: You took everything from me.

Emily: I don't even know who you are.

Something I wish dishonored 2 had picked up from 1 is how the final level is impacted by chaos. It wouldve been pretty awesome to have the base version be the low chaos outcome, with delilah essentially snapping and wrecking havoc on dunwall. But lets say you come back to dunwall at high chaos? What if D1's lighthouse scenario was flipped on its head, and dunwall would look better than when you left. With you solidifying her initially false accusation of being a ruthless monster, Delilah takes this opportunity to prove herself as the more competent leader, winning the trust, loyalty, and love of the people without the need of shaping the world through painting. Perhaps her painting outcome could be a last resort of getting to be what she wants: an empress loved by the people. And if you ask me, I dont know whats more fitting of a high chaos run, than having the only means to dispose of the main antagonist being through regicide, since thats how you have dealt with problems along the way, not to mention that you had reinforced the belief that the people initially had of you, so getting back in power by "YOUR ASSOCIATES ARE DEAD" wont fly. Hell i think it would really go hand in hand to the "throne" option which high chaos offers.

Or yknow, last level could also do the same thing as D1 and be bad vs worse situation for everyone involved.

One of my favorite tiny details in the game that I didn't discover until my... 6th(?) playthrough is that in the final level, you can find evidence of the overseers storming Dunwall Tower and losing thoroughly. One of the Overseers is still alive. The conversation with him doesn't give hints or any vital information, it's just a dying man telling you of the battle. What I love about it though, is that if you refuse the mark of the Outsider at the beginning of the game, he has different dialogue! That choice you made in the very beginning of the game changes a completely (mechanically) unimportant conversation in the very end of the game!

I truly cannot express how much I love these games. I've played through Dishonored, Knife of Dunwall/Brigmore Witches, Dishonored 2, and even Death of the Outsider each at least 3 times each and genuinely believe I'll go back for more some day. Hell, I adore these games so much, that when changing my name last year, I took the name Jessamine. Truly perfect games in my eyes.

It is truly amazing how the dishonored games can turn chapter based gameplay in to the best open world experience of all time without being open world. Plus the Victorian aesthetic makes it 20x better (in my opinion atleast, I am a history buff and I know way too much about Victorian Europe for it to be healthy)

31:02 as a dishonored lore lover, I gotta correct this. This - is not the actual the actual Sisters of Oracular Order. Sisters are a real people, a female only division from the abbey, and you actually encounter them in this exact location in DOTO. Although it’s true they produce some kind of divine prophecies for the abbey or sum like that. What you’re talking about is Oraculum (not oraculAR), and these mummified bodies are a part of this one huge magic-technology machine, created by Jindosh and Ashworth to let witches talk to Oracular Sisters in their sleep and influence their prophecies/visions.
If you pay attention you can actually hear two witched right beside the machine talking about these mummies, and how they’re made to talk to sisters through the void (or smth like that)

31:00 As a matter of fact, you can get low chaos while only killing the specific targets you mentioned haha
I did that for one of my playthroughs, killing the guard in the first level will make you get into the second level with high chaos, but around the end of that level or ademire, you're back to low chaos. You'll never cross into high chaos again if you're adamant to not kill any of the serkonos guards and make sure to spare every target but Briana (and of course Delilah)
This is due to the chaos system simply being calculated by the percentage of enemies present in the game that you killed, and killing less than 20% will give you low chaos. (getting spotted may have a tiny impact on it, but kills is the important metric)

Also a random but unrelated fun fact about the world building of the game that I absolutely adored: When you go to get the Duke in his palace, there is an audio tape to be played in his office. If you killed Jindosh, the tape will lament his death. If you lobotomize him, the tape is of a person trying to get Jindosh to basically work. But there is a third option. Near Jindosh's office, there is the edge of the map, a cliff that just drops to the city below. If you get Jindosh's body (dead or alive doesn't matter), and throw him there, the tape will only mention Jindosh disappearing, and the Duke wondering if Jindosh ended up getting cold feet and fleeing the empire. It's not technically a big deal, but I love that they took the time to record that audio for the 5 people like me who thought "wait, I did the mansion without activating a single mechanism, nobody detected me, what if I hide Jindosh's body?"

Another random fun thing. If you swap the Dukes and THEN kill the real Duke without getting spotted (you need stop time to do that basically), the fake one will still be put in power, as the guards will believe that the body double is the one who mysteriously died and seemingly not think much of it... like at all, since killing him like that will not even cause them to trigger the "oh no there's a dead body" interaction if I remember correctly

Overall, Dishonored 1 and 2 are incredible games. 2 of my favourites of all time definitely. I played through both so many times haha
They attempted to follow perfection, and they did it. These 2 games are masterpieces. The DLCs of the first are really really good too, if you loved the first game and hasn't played them, you should give it a go :D
Death of the Outsider was really fun too, though just not quite at the same level as 1, 1st game's DLCs, and 2

This is EXACTLY what I wanted when I made this request!!!!! Such a detailed dive into a favorite game of mine! Even after 50 some odd hours in the game I had never considered choking Stilton out; I think I’ll play through it again :)

Don't remember where I saw it but someone once pointed out that the different powers of both Emily and corvo represent who they are as people, Emily has far reach as she is an empress, with a literal far reach over the kingdom. Domino represents how her actions and decisions in the castle effect the lives of thousands down to the streets of dunwall. Etc etc..

I was a damn fool for thinking even for a mili sec that you would talk about Dishonored with anything but praise, forgetting that you respect and love this series as much as I do. Love your work and words, thank you for making me fall in love even deeper with my favorite game series❤
