"What's great about Steve is he never lets a script get in the way of the performance he's decided on in advance" is such a devastatingly amazing burn. Marty rocks!

"The Governor's Awards are considered the highest honor an actor can receive in mid-November."
Best line of the night, such a subtle yet devastating put-down.

You can tell Martin Short and Steve Martin are great friends.

And Martin Short is a genius comic

I heard when Marty's wife passed away Steve was always there for Marty. Great friends, hilarious together always

The rest of the audience were super lame, but Steve Martin was laughing and enjoying every second and that's what matters most.

Martin understood all of the jokes...he was the only one who mattered

the love for his friend is so obvious. terrific tribute.

“I’m not just speaking from the heart.
I’m also speaking from the teleprompter.”

He is so funny. I feel like some of the jokes went right over the audiences' heads.

That philosophy joke was top notch

Clearly the audience takes itself too seriously... Martin Short is a legend.

The academy is dead until Martin host the Oscars!

If he did, it would be epic!

This is  a textbook example of how to do a roast! Brilliant.

"when i think of Steve, and it's not often"   lmao. he is soooo funny

Martin Short managed to make me laugh and cry in the same speech. His comments at the end were as sweet as it gets

It took me a second to get it but that philosophy joke was hilarious

Martin Short is one of the quickest, sharpest wits of all time. His expressions are priceless!

Martin's smile is the best smile ever. It's just so damn infectious.

"The word genius has been thrown around a lot tonight, so i might as well call Steve one." lmfaoo

Martin Short teaching a Master Class on Comedy Timing, this man is incredible !!! And then in the last minute of his disertation he acknowledges how Steve was there for Martin and his children when he lost his wife Nancy to cancer in 2010.
