Neither of them mentioned wage stagnation. UK salaries have barely risen in real terms over the past 20 years.

The whole problem is people pay half of what they earn on housing. Half it’s crazy, no wonder we have no money for anything else.

The best thing about house prices falling, or even stagnating, is that people stop buying them as investments and leave more housing stock for people that want to live in them.

Yey! The house I want to move up to is £20,000 cheaper now. Oh wait the stamp duty is £20,000.

Tbh the housing stock in UK is overpriced

Not long ago I valued a London flat that had lost £100k from its original purchase price. House prices are stagnating or falling in many areas for clear reasons: overpriced new-build stock, a brutal mismatch between wages and affordability, rapid shifts in who lives and works locally, rising deprivation, the unchecked spread of HMOs (something the BBC still pretends not to see), ageing and poorly maintained housing, sellers clinging to fantasy prices, collapsing purchase chains, and estate agents who routinely trade in opacity rather than honesty. After surveying hundreds of properties, I have the data to back every one of these points.

House prices aren’t falling, they are levelling back to where they belong. The lower the better in my opinion and maybe young families can then afford a home to raise their families in without killing themselves with ridiculous amounts of debt.

Never calculate how much your actual interest cost on your mortgage has been. I did it once and I think I had a minor stroke.

It's hard for a economy to prosper when the housing market is vastly reducing  most of  a workers expendable income  for decades and  feeding the financial institutions need for "interest payments" instead.

Apartments are losing value at a much higher rate than houses.

The biggest factor is affordability when unemployed.  Can you go 12+ months unemployed in a recession ?     Some job sectors are that bad right now.

Owning a house in the UK is just a ponzi scheme..unless you bought 30 + years ago

It’s varies so much, even just in London. House prices have fallen for two years in Westminster and Kensington with 20-25% each year. They are falling in other borough with a few percentage, and in some areas further out they are still slowing increasing. Flats in London, especially newly builds seems to gradually become unsellable! So now are they start building huge HMO..

Stamp duty rates are stunting the housing market.If you upsize you're possibly taking on a bigger mortgage, at a higher rate now, and you have to factor in the stamp duty on a higher value property.Paying £10k stamp duty on a property, for example, is £10k of tax for what exactly? You can buy a lot of white appliances,carpets,curtains etc with £10k.I understand the need for tax revenue but stamp duty is a regressive tax in my opinion at the rate bands they are now.

7:23  odd that he only mentions the 80s & 90s the 2008 global financial crisis trapped hundreds of thousands of UK homeowners in negative equity and turned them into "mortgage prisoners!

This System!!!! The result has been an economy increasingly focused on making money from money rather than on creating the goods, services and public infrastructure that people actually need.

As a result, house prices can soar without creating another home. Privatized utilities can extract wealth without improving services. Financial wealth can increase while real prosperity declines.

The consequences are inequality, a failing real economy, failing public services, financial instability and growing political anger.

I live in Kenilworth. It is a generally very desirable area but I have noticed first time buyer houses are going unsold for months whereas they usually get snapped up within days.

My house in Norwich has dropped by 12% in the past year. I hope this continues or stabilises at a lower price as it might mean that my children can afford to buy their own home.

There is no debate, high house prices are an absolute disaster and a disgrace.
