There is nothing charming or endearing about adult illiteracy. How are they laughing?

I am very selective. Grammar is very important to me.

The same people that call us primitive and make fun of our accents for learning THEIR language as a third or fourth language. This is why I am so cocky.

This trend is helping me make sense of where we are in this world.

On average, Americans read at grade 6 level, so why are people shocked?

I broke up with a guy because he couldn’t spell Wednesday, this is sad and a turn off.

And some people think my standards are high because I like intelligence.

I can also bet who they voted for…

My man is a teacher lol. This was playing in the background while I washed dishes and out of nowhere, he came from the other room with the most irritated look on his face. I thought he got a bad call/text but no, he started the video from the beginning and walked off with the laptop so he could watch the foolishness for himself. I'm so tickled. 🤣🤣🤣

The unfortunate bit is that men are rarely encouraged to read books as kids. They do sports and physical related activities because boys will be boys. Speaking as an observant educator.

I'm so glad my boyfriend reads for fun. This is ridiculous.🤦🏽‍♀️

And they wonder why teachers are quitting en masse. These are the same parents who will be combative and insist their child isn’t struggling.

As of 2024, 54% of American are at a 5th grade reading level, 21% can't read at all.

Its one thing that these men can't read these words. But the partners on the side laughing like its cute. Its not cute.

Even when he said it right, she laughed. That brings confidence down.

This is why I will not argue with people on the internet. These are the people you arguing with, people who can’t read the word epitome 😩

English is not my first language but even I was able to figure out the pronunciation of the words I have never seen spelt out but have heard. Yet these men are struggling like English is there 6th language.

These are grown ass men with jobs who can vote.....what has the educational system gone

So these women have WILLINGLY been with an illiterate man for an extended period of time and have yet to contribute to his progression toward literacy? It's not their responsibility to teach them. However, I get suspicious when I see someone dating a person with a much lower intellectual capacity than themselves.

Libraries are free... but in their poor defense, many of those words are either French or foreign languages. Nonetheless, it is a testament of the very low level of reading many of them have. Had they been reading anything made for freshmen high schoolers, they would automatically know them. This is a testament of declining American literacy rate
