A successful woman does not center the pursuit of men in their lives. A 10 yr old friendship does not cut you off, if you're not toxic. Funny how that works. 😂
Based on how she said she's had terrible experiences with men that her friend can't "forget", it seems more like she keeps dating toxic guys, cries and complains to her friend about them, but never actually learns and just moves on to another toxic guy and the circle repeats 🥴
Basically, she probably reaches out to her ex best friend when she is not in a relationship or preoccupied with a male. She also centers every conversation around men which can be draining.
She prioritizes a husband and family that she doesn't even have yet over her current friendships. In her part 2 it sounds like she was in a toxic, possibly abusive relationship and still doesn't acknowledge the harm that did to her friend. I wouldn't want to be her friend either
She saying a lot of word salad and a friend of 10 years is not going to cut you off for just talking about men all day. It’s obvious she chases men and are addicted to toxic dynamics that put her friend at risk before. She has low self esteem and her friend was tired of it.
I am autistic. I used to have an amazing neighbor. Unfortunately I had to separate myself from her due to her trauma dumping on me about her abusive ex husband. Her stories were beyond traumatic. Mind you, I suffer also have a panic disorder and also was raised in a very abusive home. She used to talk to me because I was a family lawyer (I now practice corporate/business law). I told her to please seek therapy. But she denied that. I distanced myself from her. When she needs help regarding moving a wasmachine, my husband always helps. But I refuse to be someone’s free therapist. It makes me very sick and I always need 3-4 days to recover from it.
I don’t mind listening to people’s stories or venting. But if you aren’t doing something to fix it, example by going to therapy to work on yourself, I can’t be around you.
Why are we hanging out if 90% of the conversation is just unpaid market research on what men want? I love chopping it up with funny, culturally aware, intelligent women, but I cannot stand the male centered friendship trap. If I wanted a man’s perspective, I would go ask a man. I’m with YOU to talk about your life, your goals, our friendship, and literally anything else under the sun. Every single topic shouldn't revolve around male validation. We need to normalize girl talk that actually centers the women in the room.
What struck me is that every now and then she’d say something that would let it slip that her friend has “experienced” something due to her dating life. That tells me that she mismanaged her dating life so much so that it is actually making a negative impact on other people’s life. This sounds like this is more than just her talking about men too much, it sounds like an incident happened where the friend was personally inconvenienced or even felt unsafe because she keep chasing men. That’s extremely problematic to me and it doesn’t sound like she’s healing. When she says “I’m using men for what they’re good for” it sounds like she’s trying to sprinkle sprinkle her way into happiness and that might not work out for her
There comes a point where u get tired of giving the same advice and hearing the same stories. Give your friends a break. She just wants a rest. So she asked to be taken out the chat.
0:40 soooooo because you wanna get married and have children, it’s your only personality trait? Nah girl you are male centered and it seems as tho that’s all you offered in the friendship 🤷🏽♀️
1:17 And that, ma'am, is exactly why your friend thinks you're male-centered. Because that is not the most important relationship you're going to have. And the fact that you think that is alarming.
