I'm 42, and growing up, being right or left leaning was never an issue interacting with others.  Now it's becoming like religious beliefs and both sides are at war with each other.  It's crazy, and really only started around 15 years ago.

In my perspective Hinkaku dropped due to the use of the prefrontal cortex diminishing or has changed greatly. The skill of Critical Thinking is fading.

As someone learning Japanese language and culture from sources I can I still struggle to understand how can you study cultural expectations of culture that is full on "read the room" while there are no courses or something on it, and how would that be checked if someone understands it

I agree with you about everything. I always thought that people in Japan would be peaceful and respectful when it came to demonstrations. Also, the residency thing does seem strict but maybe they want you to prove you actually want to live there, long term.

Im a start-up founder who's been looking to set up shop in japan. I've met many japanese people and all of them were lovely people, many foreigners too. Some good some bad. If I had to give my opinion on the matter all of this is a reaction the lost decades and "Abe-nomics" and the fertility crisis. As well as the global immigration crisis, currently foreigners make up about 3% of the population, but occupy a large head space of the nation. With birth's down and the population on a downswing with the social welfare system likely going to enter the same pitfalls as the other 1st world nations. Along with the pattern recognition of europe and it's very relaxed immigration policies effectivley crashing the outlook of these nations. Many right wingers see it as "nipping in the bud" hence the extreme reaction and cyclical nature of the debates. Many japanese youth also feel (and with good reason usually) that the imigration policies and importing cheap labor have hurt there ability to gain entry level positions or other types of work, so it creates either an anti-foreinger youth or hardline socialist youth. This is of course what I've heard and seen chatting with people from different walks, so i can't give a full picture. My point being people are scared and upset and want japan to be a good place and have a good future but most don't know or care how to get there.

1-  most likely the undermining of the immigration system that people are taking advantage of , the same is happening in most Europe countries , before our time there has been immigration controls that are careful who can come.   but because of left wing idea=ology  and with financial support from foriegn powers that would love to see the system of japan fall to other countries ,   its an action for protecting the security ,  and lively hood of not only Japan people but all others who have integrated in Japan society with best intentions to support Japan
