Watching from Taipei, future military approaches aside. NZ/AUS/Singapore/Taiwan should create its own social media platforms. This is the major front the China/US colonial war is being fought via on the ground currently. It isn’t trivial geopolitically or economically this hegemony as it stands.

Paying the French for a nuclear umbrella might make some sense but the UK doesnt have an independant nuclear deterrance and it would make more sense to just pay their overlord directly.

Best Vietnam war film is definitely an Australian one, Danger Close. About a company of Australian infantry holding off a Battalion of NVA on 21 August 1966 at Long Tan. l took my wife to see it at the cinema and she frequently grabbed my arm and actually wept afterwards

There’s a very serious issue with the readiness of the US navy. If they went toe to toe with the PLN next week…they would lose badly.

*In my humble opinion

Only a complete idiot can hope for the protection of the United States! The United States has no allies and no friends , there are vassals and temporary partners whom the United States can abandon at any moment and forget about their existence . The Persian Gulf countries invested hundreds of billions of dollars in the US economy, sold oil and gas for dollars, hosted dozens of US military bases, they counted on the protection of the United States and as a result saw that the United States was not only not going to protect them, but also could not defend themselves.

After Ukraine when Russia attacks UK and Germany how will Europe react and what will they expect from USA then?

@chieftandriver703 6 months ago

A few points.
I thought we had allowed our military to become a nuclear only country. Our conventional weapons and capabilities have been hollowed out to such a point that is exactly what has happened.
Schroedinger’s Russia;
Hopeless, weak and useless
Or
Evil, capable and deadly.
It can’t be both.
Defence budget. Why would I pay more when we pay £1 billion a month to none UK citizens in benefits when those citizens of other countries will be on the first plane home if they were asked to fight for Britain?
I note Europe are having yet another summit on defence. This is the Euro way.

So you gotta wonder what China is thinking at the moment...?
If they were going to make a move on Taiwan, it seems like an opportune time to do it with the Trump administration politically bogged down & the US military physically bogged down in this Iran situation?
Actually, I suppose you could apply that to any country that want to make some kind of move, but have been reluctant too because of how the US might react or try & stop them. Take your pick of that list.
🤔

There will be no US intervention on an internal Chinese matter. Taiwan has never declared independence, and Japan, South Korea etc. will not go to war with China - their largest trading partner - unless attacked directly.
