Still in my top ten favorite disaster movies

I'll watch this the day after tomorrow

The joke my family had when this movie came out was that Americans south of the line were told to evacuate south. Canadians were advised to put on a sweater.

My favorite part about this movie is that the rich kid isn't completely irredeemable. He does start out with that kinda stuck up rich kid attitude who was used to getting whatever he wanted. But when things got serious, so was he. He knew working with the others would be the smarter move than backstabbing them like happens in so many movies. He realized trying to steal the girl would be stupid and pointless and even pushed Sam to actually tell her how he felt. On top of that, he was able to push down any ego he may have once had and accept help from a homeless guy, because the homeless guy knew way more than he did about surviving with nothing.
I'm not anywhere near rich myself, but it was just so refreshing to see a rich guy realize very early on that none of what he used to have mattered anymore. Too few movies have characters like this.

''omg I hope nobody was in that car..''
bursts out laughing

😂😂😂

25:58 when you’re in water that cold, your muscles and heart are working overtime to try to warm your body back up and if the water reached his neck it can constrict your vocal cords. Think about Rose in the water after the Titanic went down. She didn’t even have enough energy to scream for the lifeboat 😢

Everyone always jokes about the astronauts being safe in space avoiding the storms but also seems to forget that if life on earth ends then they're also just stuck in the station.

RIP Bilbo Weatherggins

This was the first disaster movie I watched, or at least the first one I remember. Still one of the best

still my fav movie i was a security guard in that library funny fact that its still looks the same to this day lol

I count this as a guilty pleasure movie for myself lol I love it way too much

It is wild though that some of the things in this movie are now actually happening. The flooding in NYC/places that dont have drainage systems built for that much water. I know several coastal cities that are even planning to push their city grids inward in preparation for rising sea levels.

Still my favorite disaster movie 😭🙌🏾

In the penthouse they would not have been able to have a fire. You need a fireplace that will burn actual wood.

39:24 not to mention, in Independence Day, the president took less than 30 minutes to understand the danger, instead of days in the other movies.

@08:54 - It's Spencer from TWD - Diana's stupid son.

12:45 y'all so wrong 😂😂

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Watched it so many times on DVD as a kid

i remember watching this as a kid so many times. definitely in my top 5 disaster movies

This was the comfort movie for our family for a while cuz we had the dvd lol

I remember my Dad taking me to see this in Cinema in '04, back then it seemed wild and crazy, then the other day I read that the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) [current] is expected to slow down/stop sometime between 2027 and 2100 due to fresh water inflow from ice melt, which will result in most of Europe's average temperature dropping by around 5c! A film truly ahead of it's time.
