Around 1960 as a child, I remember writing a grade school report about 150 foot giant squids -- I read about them in a children's encyclopedia sold at my family's super market while my mother was shopping...
I am still waiting for 150 foot squids to be rediscovered 😄

Because their brains are so large it makes me wonder if they have a sense of humor. They may be ROFL at the bottom of the sea at our attempts to find additional specimens.

Because of it's blue blood as you call it which allows it to survive at these great depths I can only presume when it is hauled to the higher depths where fish have gills I presume it cannot survive for very long and would suffocate

Great video. Counter-illumination is honestly one of the craziest survival adaptations in nature. How do scientists even estimate the population of colossal squids if sightings are so rare?

So even the Antarctic is being overfished: and I expect icy cold waters probably means the local species are slow growing.
If so many modern devices haven't seen the Colossal Squid, it's probably because there aren't many of them: they're an endangered species.
