I've done loads of these , and I would personally get a small straight edge on those corners , first and then round them off once they've sucked in a bit At\nLeast they are dead straight then

On the bullnose trowel, why don't they just curve/fold the edges round a little, to stop the indented lines?

Also, if you re getting a little bit of suction, just drop some waterproofer in the render. Along with some sbr, to make it stick You don't have to leave it 5 days.Because seccoat is poorest and it will dry through the set coat

i appreciate that there is no log burner going in  so the gypsum finish is not a concern ... but going forward if a log burner was fitted , would the gypsum finish be able to with stand the heat of a log burner without cracking ??
