Today, let's dive into the infamous drama of Rainfurrest 2015. With unruly attendees showcasing some truly inappropriate behavior, irresponsible organizers who put attendance numbers above guest safety, and one truly fed-up hotel, Rainfurrest was a ridiculous spectacle that would go down in internet history as one of the most disastrous conventions ever,

'Fun' Fact: Rainfurrest was known for being the con that all the furries banned from other fur cons attended. Probably explains a lot!

I find stories about cons and festivals that go off the rails fascinating, I don't know why exactly. It's like they're tiny temporary societies and when they go wrong you get a miniature apocalypse.

“Yes, a lone gunman pulled the trigger, but the board of executive staff sold them five years’ worth of bullets” Such a raw line and it’s about a furry convention lmao

@CommanderBlackHeart 3 years ago

Fun Fact: The sabatour wasn't the only one to contact the hotels, there are reports of the hilton actully reaching out to some of the bigger hotel chains about the desaster
Bonus Fact: tampering with smoke detectors is beyond dangerous, as it can exspose you to LOTS of radiation

Adam/YourMovieSucks (who's an open furry) had some insight--he said RainFurrest was either created by, or at least became the only remaining option for, furries who were banned from other conventions... most likely for the behavior documented above lol

Imagine making a Convention so awful the hotel that hosted you told other hotels to NOT host your Convention

“They don’t know better” is the WORST excuse for not enforcing anti-harassment measures because then the harassers are just going to assume their behavior always was and always will be okay??? Saying “they’ll just get better on their own” is like enabling an abuser by letting them do it and never reporting it to anybody.

i burst out laughing at the part "they took to Twitter complaining that people are judging them"

imagine being that person and honestly thinking
"these people are judging me, an adult because i shit myself in front of them. how rude"

I can't imagine being high on a fury suit, that sound like the worst idea ever, the heat and claustrophobia of a fursuit wouldn't mix well with any drug

@moghull 5 years ago

Still can’t believe they found a venue who would be willing to host them after the previous year.

Me: You got the shit?
Youtube: gives me a video essay on a fandom I was never in
Me: Das good shit

I'm a hotel manager, we look out for our fellow hotels in the area.
When we experience a criminal or extremely unpleasant individual, we will contact other hotels and share their names, so it doesn't surprise me in the slightest that every hotel rejected this side-show, I know I would.

PSA: If you are ever (God forbidden) sexually or physically assaulted....NEVER let ANYONE convince you to handle the situation "informally!" Someone else's social awkwardness or ineptitude is not, nor will it ever be an excuse to subject you or anyone else to abuse!

the way someone who was there said "i remember the diapers and emergency responders firsthand" and the con twitter had the audacity to say "yeah but it wasnt the tornado the internet was making it out to be" huh?? what do they define as a "tornado" then? a sinkhole opening up under the venue? a literal tornado?

@YuTopiaWEB 4 years ago

rainfurrest: allows furries to literally defecate in diapers while walking around
also rainfurrest: no you cant smoke

I hadn't heard of Rainfurrest before this video. Now all I can think is "If Rainfurrest and Dashcon had a horrendous lovechild, it'd be FreeFurAll."

@I_am_always_correct 5 years ago (edited)

If I had a nickel for every time a charismatic YouTuber from the Australian continent told me about Rainfurrest, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice

idea: izzy should come to a furry convention in a garfield fursuit and report on whatever's going on there

@user-jn1wm3tb8v 5 years ago

And so Garfield has blessed us again, speaking to us through its conduit.

I once went to a furry rave party and when I walked around with my furhead one I felt a tap on my shoulder, I looked back and saw the mouth of a gun, than I heard the trigger.

I informed the management and left, when I came home my mailbox had like... 20 massages that all were the same: 'Don't be overdramatic, everybody knew it was a fake gun.'

1. no body told me.
2. this happen a week after the shooting in Belgum.
3. She never excused herself.
