Here is a selection of a few Hornby Dublo locos I have repainted. Why? simply because I have collected quite a few over the years and do not like 3 or 4 locos all with the same name and number.
All but two on here have been done in the style of Hornby Dublo using replica varnish fix/meths fix transfers which are a little over scale in keeping with Dublo.
The City's are painted with a metallic (pearlescent) colour, Peugeot Diablo red, which when coated with satin varnish removes the sheen of it giving to my eyes a nice rich maroon which suited this class of loco. The LMS one is a different shade of metallic.
All the green ones on here are Brooklands green which is similar to the Dublo shade.
A little modellers license has been used for an A4, a couple of W/C's and the R1's and the green standard 4 is taken from the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
Two locos, Clan Line and Isambard Kingdom Brunel were actually painted by me in the late 1970's and were too good to strip for a "Dublo" makeover so have been left as they were from then.
I do have one of each of the originals so don't repaint everything, some Montrose's were good so they just got a new name and number added to their existing paintwork.
The two Deltics were originally the Co-Co bodies as I did not want to have the raised rib around separating the two greens so this was masked off.
Later I will put more on like the 0-6-2's and diesel shunters with a few more A4's, Duchess's etc.
As I do like Dublo chassis's I have a few Neverwazza locos where Hornby/Tri-ang/Bachmann bodies have been fitted to Dublo chassis's and these will be seen later.
