"California über alles" is catchy, if you want another of theirs.

"Let's Lynch the Landlord" hits as hard today as it did back in the day.

Punk rock is designed to make you think and go against the grain.  Glad you dove into the lyrics!  Cheers!

They had a drummer D.H. Peligro who was a black guy.  Thing is with Kennedy's, their lyrics are full-on sarcasm, it's not spewing hatred, the singer is actually a very smart guy, even though you wouldn't think so at first glance.  This lyric has a marvelous ending cause they expose one of the most brutal regimes in the world and they're repeating the name Pol Pot, who was a mass murderer, but who was also in charge of Cambodja...There is a movie made about this topic called "Killing Fields".

It’s not a Dad talking to a daughter. He’s talking about rich kids who are privileged but still act like they understand the plight of the non privileged.
Funny enough, Jello Biafra was in fact a rich kid himself.

how could you have not loved that guitar?!!???!!  man alive, one of the best guitar tracks of all time!

"The Killing Fields" is an acclaimed film about that era, but it's a heavy watch.

You guys should watch a live version - they have a black drummer.  There were many black punk rockers back in the day - including the legendary Harold Alexander.  He was a bad ass dude.

Saying that the vocals were horrible is quite possibly the biggest compliment you could give to Dead Kennedys vocalist Jello Biafra 😂.

Finally some Dead Kennedys thank you!

Ha, ya'll ain't ready for this.😂

Jello Biafra is thanked in the liner notes of Public Enemy's "It Takes a Nation of Millions....". That says a lot.

When Jello biafra used the 'N' word in his lyrics, he was satirizing bored and spoiled middle class and wealthy white youth. Over the years, Jello didn't like the idea that the lyric, regardless of context, was unintentionally offensive, so he changed the lyric to 'brothers' for live performances decades ago. Biafra has been an outspoken anti-racist and anti-fascist his entire career. But that being said, his lyrics were often subversive and provocative. Especially for those with no knowledge of Biafra's activism or the context of his political and cultural satire.

The lead vocalist of this band is the voice you hear in Ice-T’s “Shut-Up, Be Happy”.

Idk how you guys didn't like the guitar at least... that surfer style goes so hard

Ice T"s "freedom of speech" features the lead singer of this band; Jello Biafra.

The current drummer Steve Wilson's mom was my neighbor and she recently passed this week  R.I.P. Charlene Wilson 😢

This is why I love old school punk and hip hop. Both have something to say.

I like and respect it so much when people are able to appreciate things without liking them.

Pol Pot's regime murdered a 1/3 of the nation in those 4 years.Go look up the Khmer Rouge's rule; they were a political movement, and their actions were so brutal that it boggles the mind.
