kpop has become an all consuming escapist experience for many and those who are unhappy with their lives are vulnerable to falling deeply into these parasocial relationships, if that’s you this video isn’t to scold you but to make you self reflect. If you think your relationship to kpop is becoming too much i strongly suggest you take a step back

being a casual kpop fan feels amazing

About media training, I've seen a lot of people saying "I wish katseye/Cortis never get media trained!". NO, they ARE trained, just differently. I think it's been a trend in recent years in Hybe for idols to be more casual, relatable and unhinged in general, it works really well with short form videos

I genuinely DESPISE fan calls and fan meetings. I find it so strange and personal one of my biggest nightmares 😭😭

it’s really rare to find non- parasocial and genuenely chill kpop stans

Remember people, kpop is a hobby.

it's all an ACT / PERFORMANCE. Entertainment, treat it for what it is.

Also when are we gonna realise calling them "idols" is one of the creepiest and worst part

This made me realise I'm a very casual kpop listener

Oh, don't even get me started on how some fandoms seem like cults, it's terrifying.

Idols are heavily sxualized in kpop and i always found it weird

I did a kpop detox like 2-3 years ago when i finished high school and got into college soon after, deleted my big stan twitter account, stopped keeping up with what my ult group was doing everyday (day-to-day schedule and stuff) now i'm just a casual fan, i do consume kpop content but it's limited and in my control 😭 i'm happy like this, i just focus on myself and my life

Omg everything here is so true, as a kpop fan myself who genuinely like them for their music and do buy albums and stuff, I have seen a lot of people who really think they ‘own’ the idols and think they’re ‘dating’ them which is soooo concerning, just because you fund their life doesn’t mean you own a piece of them. I am guilty of consuming a lot of kpop content and can’t stop but it gets to a point where I have fatigue from watching them and restricted myself from watching so much

girl i always tell my boyfriend that if im into kpop again its a call for help because for me PERSONALLYYYY ive noticed a pattern that when i am feeling really depressed i will lean into kpop content. I think listening to kpop is fine but definitely when im watching content and getting sucked into fanwars, theres a high chance im feeling super isolated, lonely, and depressed

Also a lot of women seem to be avoiding the issues of adulthood and real life by wasting their lives 24/7 in kpop

Thanks so much for raising awareness for this - it is truly consuming and fills people full of unhealthy delusion. As a kpop stan myself, I have been victim to this and have had to step back and reflect on how I approach listening and engaging into the kpop industry..

I think once you snap out of it, your perspective really shifts... I watched that happen to my friend and she actually said she started to enjoy Kpop more because there was no pressure to keep up with everything. as a HUGE multistan I have never payed attention to the contents of a group so much and I mostly hyper fixate on the music 😭

it's the way western artists never promote themselves as their fans bestfrnd or stuff, its js their art which fans enjoy and dont care what their personal life is like meanwhile kpop entirely promotes their idols as fans bestfrnd and how idols are appearing everywhere 24/7, they barely catch a break and exactly how kpop sells to lonely people, ITS A GODDAMN TRAP but hope people become more aware and see idols as idols not their husband or wives
edit- yall ik what crazy shit goes in pop culture and hollywood but what im tryna say is that kpop marketing is more personal and intimate u wont see western artists doing fanservice, 24/7 being present in front of their fans, acting like their gf/bf, parasocial fans are everywhere but kpop pushes it more towards them and we know in sk, u can get cancelled for breathing wrong, whereas in west celebs do criminal shit but still have fans and why? because most of the fans there dont care ab their personal lives and arent too invested (tho complete ignorance of crimes can be wrong), but in kculture u cant even date openly bc fans think they own u in a way nad thats mostly bc companies pushes them in front of the fans in a very personal way and thats the diffrence bw marketing

Even though I realize and was sure that I'm not parasocial, last day, when I saw a paparazzi photo of one of my fav K-pop idol with their possible gf, I felt a little sad.. that's when I realised it unknowingly affected me too. I later found out that they were hanging out with their own member, not gf. Either way, parasocial relationship is one hell of a drug

I notice how all my problems related to weight and appearance started with liking kpop at 11 and get into all my teenage years.
I never had this issues liking rock or metal where the songs doesn't focus on this propaganda.
