In CoP you can ask hunters about poltergeists, and they will say that poltergeists don't actually see but feel the movement. If you stay still without moving poltergeist will lose the site of you and stop attacking.
Also not present in S2

My feelings on the first 20 minutes of STALKER 2 was "A bloodsucker, already?"
Then a few hours later when I've seen upwards of 30, I began to hate them massively.

None of the people who made the original Stalker games were involved with Stalker 2. That's what went wrong.

Bloodsucker at the beginning feels exactly like Deathclaw at the Concord in Fallout 4. One of the most notable symbols of the game being trashed

the bastardifcation of the bloodsucker needs to be studied, thing went from a primarily nocturnal/lab focused mutant that relied on its invis and ambush tactics, and was honestly relatively rare.

then in stalker 2 you fight one as literally the first mutant in the game, and it has legitmately like 10 times the hp of the og trilogies, why is it taking 2-3 ak mags to kill, and why are they in like packs of 3-4 during the day? its just the goofiest thing that made them into garbage canon fodder, and they're unironically more common than the boars/dogs, lmao

You alerted the horde. You cannot criticize stalker 2. No other game has such an atmosphere of toxic positivity. All criticisms get shot down with "but they're in a war" or "its not really that important". Worse is you get accused of being a Russian Bot sometimes.

I feel like the Bloodsucker in S2 got the same treatment that the Deathclaw got in Fallout 4.
Not only do they seem more common from what ive gathered looking at footage of the game, but theyve been reduced to just "Remember the bloodsucker, guys? No worries, We'll make sure it is as easy as possible to know where they are so you dont miss out on them. You loved them!" Completely misunderstanding why they were great and what made them scary and so popular to begin with. It's all the more insulting knowing how the bloodsuckers are supposed to have an almost mythical status, sure they arent 1 in a million but when you'd run into one and heard the breathing, you sure as shit would remember that encounter and not just because it wasnt as common.
and obviously, you meet both incredibly early as a scripted thing.

You could get close to Controllers in SoC, They lacked a melee attack and just let you stab them to death.
But this was fixed in the later games.

It was so weird seeing a Bloodsucker so early on.

I still remember my first encounter and it took me days to see one when I ventured into the basement of a Gas Station where there were crevices and ravines that went across the road.

Anomaly and Gamma basically had the blueprint for a perfect Stalker sequel and they opted instead for a modern and mainstream Fallout 4 cash cow.

Don't even get me started with the NASA Computer requirements. Refunded it so fast and returned to Gamma.

what I don’t like in stalker 2 is the stealth system you could hide away for hours and they wont give up their search mutants or humans

Waited 15 years for this game, preordered the highest tier pack, played it for a bit over 250h exploring every nook and cranny of the map, then swiftly uninstalled it as soon as I got the first ending. I cannot put into words how utterly disappointed I was in the whole experience. This video only handles the mutants but I could pick apart every single aspect of this damn game.

The blind dog ai actually was ruined too. Blind dogs used to be able to do a leap so you could be hit if hiding atop obstacles, it meant you couldn’t cheese fights by getting on a box. This is gone.

psy dogs in trilogy could also have lots of summons when you let it live for long enough, however you could find the real dog easier because it would hang around the back
also about the controller, in shadow of chernobyl controllers were pathetic since they didnt have their melee attack yet, so you could run up to one and it would try to walk away very slowly to get into the minimum range to use their psy attack

they tried to make STALKER a widely digestible AAA shooter for casual players who havent played the original STALKER games. in return, they erased the most depth and realism out of most of their game world so there isnt much nuance players have to worry about. the problem with this, is that STALKERs charm comes from that unforgiving, in-depth world that REALLY makes it a challenge to survive. STALKER is known and loved for being the most brutal post apocalyptic open world FPS, with no hand holding, few tips, and a game that rewarded you for exploring and caring to learn about the world and your enemies. they alienated their main fanbase to try and catch a wider sales bracket, another studio ruined by investor bottom lines and corporate greed.

I feel like stalker 2 went the fallout 4 route with mutants, every mob in the game is immediately hostile and is a total bullet sponge for no reason, if I'm not mistaken some mutants don't have headshot multipliers, not to mention how some of these changes go against the core design of the mutant itself like the bloodsucker announcing its presence before attacking

I like how in S2 you can just randomly encounter multiple bloodsuckers, like thanks devs i've always wanted to fight six bloodsuckers.
For context this happened to me when the game first released haven't played since!
