Gawd I could not hate DSports any more, but understand that GA clay is dirty ice...u need them. I picked up a '24 ADV last year, and after 2 seasons feel its the perfect One Bike set up for me. Iv had 14 different dual sport, enduro, ADV bikes past decade LOL. Iv had a thought bout picking up a new Versys 650 LT and do some touring trips, and pick up another old KLX for offroad cuz Im so familar with them {Iv had 5 variations of them...great bikes}. But I KNOW I would be on 1 of them and wish I had the other at some point of a ride, while the KLR I go EVERYWHERE without hesitation. Have good offroad experience Im really impressed on the gnarly stuff I get thru, just slower obviously but then go burn up 200 miles of pavement same day. Neither the Versys or KLX could do that.
My opinions of the DR and XR 650's is : people spend SOOO much $ on them to try and make them a KLR, and they still dont have the wind protection or stability on highway. Big tank, seat, racks, luggage, windscreen, anti-vibe stuff on a bike that is bare bones at $7k already is too expensive. I do love them though, just not for me after bucking wind so much on DRZ's and KLX's for a decade.
Dude I had the exact same issue witht one of the hang pins on the front caliper (same bike, same year/model). I too had to purchase an aftermarket caliper from ebay because I wasn't going to drop over $400 on an oem one from Kawa, it's been working just fine.
What part of Georgia are you in. I am in Franklin, NC and ride a 2022 KLR Adventure. I'm almost 63 and wouldn't consider selling mine. If you ever want to plan a ride. Hit me up.
