Dynamic Range (DR) is a great feature when the situation calls for it. The problem is that it's often left enabled even when it's not needed, and then it unfortunately degrades your images. DR increases the camera's dynamic range in situations where the actual dynamic range is too large for the camera. However, if this isn't the case—for example, if it's cloudy or you're shooting in the shade—then you should select DR100. Otherwise, the contrast will suffer significantly, and the images will appear even more washed out than they already are. Therefore, the DRAuto function is highly recommended, as it allows the camera to automatically select the appropriate DR setting.

I used to like DR 100-400 but after learning about HDRI using Fuji is when I got really excited.

I need one settings that will prevent my pictures changing from what I saw on back screen to be exact on LR.
Even my JPGs look different on Lightroom compared to my camera.
My computer is screen is calibrated

Ive been doing this with my gfx. I was using dr400 and accidentally clipping the highlights to whites as i thought it would be easier to drop the highlights in post.
Thank you for the video, i started realising with trial and error that its better to expose for the shadows more than highlights in dr400 and your video proved that. I.e just peak the histogram in the midtones and be done with it.

Do you combine the DR settings with exposure settings and tonality settings? I found interesting results by setting DR to 200, exposure dial to -1 (fixed both) and then adjusting the shadows/highlights tonality sliders from the Q menu

DR Auto setting is the way to go. 99,9% of the times Fuji camera nails it.

Two things. Personally I'm not that impressed with your pictures. Technically a DR setting of 400% will ruin your B&W street or landscape picture so only use it in color.
