PLAYERS Listen!!! Very important! (especially out of position)...
Tank a little on turn thinking about exactly what you are going to do on river depending... If board pairs, if King hits, if blank hits, or 10 hits.

IMO, the 99 fold is pretty easy as AJ, A9, A10, AA, JJ, 1010 all have villain beat. The jam on the river makes the fold even easier. Also, I guess hero wasn't worried about AJ. I might have value bet the river at 1/4 pot instead.

Check raise to 800 ish on the river is my favorite play here regardless of result. He can show up with so many hands that snap call that bet with a “if I lose I lose” mentality 100% of the time. A jam can get him off a hand like 99 as played

I think that you have to bet this flop with a weak ace. You have to assume that your opponents very likely have either a pair or a straight draw. It would take a hand like K-7 suited or 7-6 suited to not have a either a pair or a straight draw. If you're giving your opponents a free card, then any card between 7 and King could either give someone a straight or trips (or a realistic two pair). It would really just be a 6 through 2 that would be a blank, so almost every turn card is a scare card.

I think your stronger aces are the ones that you can check-call here. Weaker aces want to fold out a hand like K-10 or 10-9 instead of giving them a free card. The stronger aces that either pick up 2 pair or a straight draw on most scare cards are much safer giving a free card. Ace-10, for example, picks up a gut shot on a King or a 7, open ended on a Queen or an 8, and two pair on a 10. They can give a free card much easier than a hand like Ace-5 can.

I fold turn. I'd give serious consideration to folding flop. A large bet OOP in a multiway pot in one of the tightest configurations in poker... it's SO rare to ever see a bluff here, and it's hard to think of worse strong hands that take this line.

As played I think you can make an argument for either leading big or c/r all in. Leading has less fold equity, can get called from Ax (though not many are playing this way) and may still get raised by JJ/99/A9; c/r has more fold equity, and may face a check back from Ax, but all the boats likely bet and likely call a raise. I lean towards c/r.

Other than calling turn, I think this was well-played by both. V played perfectly against pool in general.

It's way more profitable to try to stack JJ, 99, KQ sometimes and maybe A9s plus get extra value from someone bluffing QT than it is to donk here, I think. Especially in a low stakes game in Texas. People don't fold boats.

Also, wouldn't QTs be our most reasonable bluff here? If we're opening it UTG, we could definitely be check calling flop/turn and we block TT (not that anyone should have it as played) and AT for super strong hands.

What about fake "block" bet the river for something like 300? He might raise hands he would fold to a jam and still call weaker hands.

Behind on the flop, drawing almost dead on the turn, calls an overbet and gets there. The prime example of how bad decisions sometimes lead to good outcomes. flop played good, I will always fold turn there, the guy fired 2/3 pot into 3 ppl on A high board what possibly could he have aside from JJ and 99 there when flatting pre, also aJ and a9 s are both optional calls from +1 which hero loses to as well

Lead large on the river, I think in 2026 the general 2/5 pop will never fold to a pot sized lead and will always fold to a river check raise with 99/jj/Ak.

If you are only targeting full houses, check jamming is definitely the right play. You're never checking this river if you don't put him on a full house. $5 blind level, they are rarely folding any boats.
