Ranking Every Pokemon Game (WORST To BEST)

Domainie

While I played a lot of Pokemon games as a kid, it wasn't until recently where I finally sat down and finished the remaining games. After playing all of the games, I decided to rank every single game based on nothing other than how much I enjoyed each game in my own opinion.

I'm gonna cover all the mainline games that take place in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar, and Paldea.

Didn't even realize how tough I was on Sun and Moon and it might seem like they should have been lower, but overall I do enjoy them, but it is very much hindered by some of the issues I went over in the video. Same for Platinum. Its my first time ranking Pokemon games and I definitely made it seem like I dislike a couple of these games more than I do.

Nothing boils the blood faster than an honest ranking of the Pokemon games lmao

24 seconds in and I’m already pissed off

Personally, I would put Pokémon (Ultra) Sun/Moon above the rather barebones X/Y. I like that the story of the originals is a deconstruction of the typical Pokémon journey, not to mention the abundance of content in the Ultra games. I still do love X/Y though since Y was the first Pokémon game I played.

clicks on video

I'm a millenial that started with Blue Version. Gen 5 is the absolute bomb. I love the whole pokedex, game design, difficulty curve, and replay-ability (hard mode, anyone?!). It's by far my most replayed generation because of all the things I've mentioned.

As someone who has alot of nostalgia for Red,Blue and Yellow and in no way see them as the worst games to play, I have no issue with seeing someone without that nostalgia putting them at the bottom

You’re placements are different then mine but I was still able to enjoy your take on this. Pokémon has been a big part of my life and I think it’s great we all enjoy different things about them!

@1:05 buddy you missed out on the wild Wild West days of the Internet 1997-2003 the kids were wilding it

Not entirely specific to this video, just wanted to say on your most recent video, I appreciate how you weave your opinions into these ranking videos. Like I just watched your “Worst Levels in Mario Games” video and the way you add your thoughts on each game gives great context on where you’re coming from and every ranking video of yours I’ve watched so far has been just like this!

I can see why Red & Blue are ranked how they are, but it’s definitely one of those titles that you just “had to be there”. Life changing for some (me).

I started playing Pokémon in 1995, I am already quite old but I wholeheartedly agree witg your rankings! I was amazed with ORAS and HG/SS!! Those are the best Pokémon remakes even surpassing the original ones. Respect!!!!

I was born in 92 so red and blue being last is like kicking me in the nuts….
Edit: also what I like about the old games is that they didn’t hold your hand. I just played through X and the game gave you every HM. Didn’t have to go find any of them. The new games are way too easy and hold your hand too much.

19:23 this criticism pops up often and i really dont understand it. I replay pokemon platinum every year with a completely new team of pokemon ive never used before, and each time i am able to put together a team of fun and diverse pokemon, and ive been keeping up with this tradition since 2017. 10 playthroughs in and ive still not run out of future team ideas. There are so many viable mons in the Platinum dex.

Compare this to HGSS, where i really struggled to put a team together for my second playthrough, since a huge amount of the pokemon are either ridiculously weak, lategame or just straight up unavailable in Johto. The difference between the dex quality is huge.

Great list. I personally feel like over the years I e become much fonder of Scarlet and Violet. The DLC especially was some of the best Pokemon in a long time

The ORAS hype is so based. I personally can’t quite put it above gen 4 but it’s neck and neck with B/W 2 for my next favorites. I didn’t play much Pokemon throughout high school, completely missing gens 6 and 7, and Omega Ruby was the game that resparked my love for Pokemon after my cool kid phase was over. It might still be the fastest I’ve ever finished a pokemon game. I was blown away by how magical it all felt

Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby are SO underrated!! Absolutely love to see this 👏🏼 literally was going to scroll back into the video to see if I missed it when you were talking about HG/SS but then you said it at number 1 and I got hyped 😤

I recently went back to Pokémon Violet after I stopped playing it back in 2022. Unfortunately, I had set myself to play it with Nuzlocke rules back then and I CANNOT drop that mindset while playing, meaning that when a Pokémon faints it's dead and I doesn't feel right playing with it.

30:30 As least we agree what is Number 1

@Liberalinteligentnintendofan 2 months ago

I thought that gen 2 was really good. Gold and Silver were some of my first pokemon games. They were good for the time but I'm happy that you also very much enjoyed heart gold and soul silver.
