'' When St Peter asks me to chronicle the highlights of my time down here on earth, I'll be able to say (with pride if that's allowed) that for a while I played rhythm guitar in a band with Albert Lee." - Emmylou Harris.

I adore Emmylou! The trios she did with Dolly Parton and Linda Rondstadt are definitely worth listening to.

Albert Lee the best "unknown" guitarist produced by the UK.

Emmylou is a force of nature, as are her bands. The contribution she's made to contemporary music through not just her own music, but her championing amazing talent/players/songwriters and shining a spotlight on them (Rodney Crowell, Ricky Skaggs, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, Gillian Welch and on and on and on) has changed the face of the music we love, for the better (imho). The epitome of grace, class and talent.

Thank you for spotlighting Emmylou Harris.  My favorite artist, I've been a fan for nearly 50 years!  Never stop singing, Emmylou!

I've had the great pleasure of seeing Albert Lee live on many occasion, absolutely tremendous guitarist!

Emmylou at her best. Not only a masterful vocalist, but a brilliant musician musician..Past time she was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.❤❤❤

I saw Emmylou Harris at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester in February 1976- an amazing concert. At that time James Burton was the guitar player but the rest of the band was the same. At one point, they went acoustic the pedal steel guitar player took Emory Gordy's bass and he played mandolin. James Burton played the dobro and Rodney Crowell and Emmylou played acoustic guitar while I think Glen D Hardin left his piano for a crafty smoke.. One of the greatest bands ever.

This is the sound and look of my childhood!  I was born in Roy Clark's hometown of Meherrin, Virginia in '68, and I would have been about 9 years old when this was performed. It was a strange time---people who looked like hippies were playing country music that sounded more "country" than  what was coming out of Nashville. People can argue all day about Gram Parson and his contribution to country music, but one thing is certain---he introduced the world to Emmylou Harris!  I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the whole country/rock swirl of that time, with groups like the Burrito Brothers, The Hot Band, The Byrds, Poco, and The Eagles. I just happened to have been playing some Poco yesterday, so it's almost miraculous that this review shows up on my Youtube feed. Great job! Now, since you're on the other side of the pond, you've probably heard of the Northern Soul movement over there. It's similar to the Carolina Beach Music that I also love....but that's another review, and another story!

Thanks for the chuckle, Fil when you said, "So there is so much in this performance that I'm going to try and keep this analysis down to under one lifetime." 😂 great analyses to a great performance by Emmylou Harris, and the band. 👍

I joked that I was born with two left ears all my life, and didn't understand music theory until last year when I started playing the piano.  But I knew music, since when I was growing up, we didn't ask to see someone's Instagram profile, we asked to see their record collection.   No one was offended, it was a point of pride to look through the vinyl.  So many of my friends (moi aussi) had Emmylou Harris, and we'd read the liner notes and rememberize the musicians on the records.   Some people would say that a record was country, or country rock, or bluegrass, or fusion,  I didn't care.   I just listened to what I liked.  This is bringing back so many Friday and Saturday night souvenirs...great memories.
Your channel is really a treasure.   I love your appreciation and knowledge of all kinds of music.
You Rock.  Merci.

Emmy Lou is still melting faces to this day.

Albert Lee is maginicent

Over and over, and yet Albert never sounds repetitive.

Albert did a clinic at my local music store, about 20 years ago. He was one of the nicest human beings I have ever been privileged to come across.
Humility squared!
A great storyteller, and he was only supposed to be there for an hour, but continued to regale us with stories for a little over two hours. The best 15 bucks I’ve ever spent!

I always feel like I have been to music class.

Cowboy Fil, this rocked.

My favorite Emmylou period, and best band name ever!

Albert is a blistering master picker. one of the best uk exports. love it.

I love Emmylou, country music and some good guitar playing! This was a fun analysis and I enjoyed your guitar demonstration as well! 😉👍
