Characters move so realistically in Kubo you'd swear it was all cgi and motion captured. This is unbelievable.

Imagine the frustration and patience these guys have

I wish so badly that this movie was commercially successful.

I didn't and still can't believe that KUBO and the two strings is stop-motion animation. That's how well they've done their job.

Making stop motion seems super intimidating.

@dinosg555 9 years ago

Stop motion needs to come back and I'm glad that Laika, Aardman and now even the latest Star Wars has started using it again.

Hand drawn and stop motion animation are just special and I mean no offense to what CGI animation can do, but it's just not as human and magical and special

The amount of attention to detail, both physical and emotional and technical... It's stunning .

In a way they become the characters when recording their live action bits. My love for animation started with Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run! :D

How on earth do they get the movement to look so smooth and fluid like that? It seems like it would be so difficult to make the minute adjustments to his posture each frame, while at the same time making sure that the animation looks right/remembering where his weight is/how he's moving ect. Seems like it would be a million times more effort than CGI.

At least Kubo has an eyepatch so thats one less thing to animate

I've seen Kubo and the two strings, and it's freaking amazing. When I was watching it in theaters. I kept thinking to myself, "wow.. these guys must really devote their lives to this stuff. I would never be able to have enough patience for this!"
