We spent a week there and stayed more north on the eastern side of the island in Pacifico. Like you said, different strokes for different folks, but we really loved that area. It was more relaxed and had more locals and long-term residents. We split time between an AirBnB and an incredible resort a little north of Pacifico. We drove a scooter all around the island and really, really loved the northern side, which is more remote, but has some gems with views, restaurants and cafes. Cloud 9 was great to visit, but we only spent a day there out of the 7 days on the island. It has its perks, but if you're up for venturing on a scooter to check out the rest of the island, I promise you'll find areas you'll enjoy (possibly) more and not have the crowds of all the tourists. We rented a surfboard from our AirBnB host in Pacifico and he tipped us off to more beaches and surf spots that are more "local vibe." Way less populated, but arguably even more beautiful than Cloud 9.

Apparently, the vibe changed when some tourists started behaving badly and that situation became common. Now servers and business are "meh". Not an excuse, but nature wins. Btw, Siargao was a quiet peaceful island not long ago. They should increase the prices more so they don't attract crazies and escapees and content creators.

Fair enough, North still has the amazing vibe, General Luna is worn down from all the battles with the "chosen ones". Not sure if you know what's been going on between the soldiers on rotation from the certain middle east war zone harassing the locals in GL.

Siargao just does appeal to a different kind of tourist!  Some people do still prefer its rawness versus some of the Philippine Islands with 5 Star resorts.  The friendliness of the people there are not the kind that are attached to service, if you really care to interact with the locals.
