Please preserve as many of these shell golf matches as you can

The 1960s and 1970s were golden times for Australian golf. Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus all visited, Gary (7 Australian Opens) and Jack (6 Australian Opens) on a regular basis. However, the tournament that I will never forget is the 1969 Wills Masters at Kingston Heath Golf Club. I had never heard of George Knudson, but my first glimpse of him on the practice tee had me entranced. I had never, and have never since, seen anyone strike a ball quite like he did that day and I knew instantly that I just had to join his gallery. It was the final round and George held the overnight lead. It was a hot Australian summer and George actually passed out on the third or fourth hole. As you might expect, at a golf tournament there were plenty of doctors handy - one of them diagnosed dehydration, got George hydrated and back on his feet, and he went on to win. That day is a golden memory. A couple of months later he came within a couple of inches of a US Masters playoff, so this must have been a period of his life when his putting was on song. It’s a sad irony that the sponsor of the Wills Masters was WD & HO Wills, a tobacco company. The world was robbed of a rare talent far too soon and I’m blessed to have seen him play.

Thank you so much for this. What a great and clear version of the video.

Very appreciative of the work you do to preserve these peices of golf history 2 great players and 2 beautiful swings

I saw Mr. Knudson play in Massachusetts. He was the Coolest guy on the course!😊

I'm just past the front 9 right now, and I believe that this is the epitome of George's putting woes that you were referring to in your documentary about him. Think that was the first video I've watched on the channel too. Really glad that this exists! Been subbed for almost a year now I believe.

Love these matches!

Knudson was one of the greatest ball strikers to ever play the game, he would have won so much more if his putting wasn’t literally aweful!

Two of the smoothest swings ever in golf.  Thank you for posting this!

A rare par 69 course.  Which you don't see every day. 5,584 yards.

That "driving iron" looks just like an old 3-wood.

It's amazing that Knudson won 8 times on the PGA Tour with that putting stroke.  Great swing and one hell of a ball striker though.

do you have Billy Casper at Doral? ⛳ 🤞

please please post the match in Argentina

I concr.  How did Knudson win 8 Tour events with his putting stroke?  He's worse than Kelly  Moser.

White paradise.

George Knudson is the worst putter that ever played professional golf. I just can't believe how bad he really was.
